Bosch Platinum +4 Spark Plugs

These plugs were just put into my Jeep after 30,000 miles of using the basic Champion spark plugs. After putting them in, I noticed a significant improvement in performance in the KJ. Over the exact same commute that I typically drive with the same traffic and same speed, my Jeep averaged 20.7 mpg, where I had been receiving 18.6 mpg. Also, by my "seat of the pants" dyno, it feels like there is more power on tap from the 3.7L. This was also the only change that was made to the vehicle (no tire pressure changes, oil change, etc.) I know someone will chime in saying I wasted my money, such and such is the best, etc. However, the way I see it, the spark plugs are one of the most essential replaceable items within the vehicle, so why not spend a little more every 30K miles?

ill kepp my thoughts to myself but i will say plugs are something kj owners overlook way to much, because they think its a pain in the ass job. Keep newer plugs in your engine and it will be much happier. But plugs wont add power, but good plugs will be 100% effecient where as crappy cheap plugs may not be 100% effecient. Well i almost kept my thoughts to myself. Still props for getting it done

Pros and cons... Pros - New plugs are always a good thing. I put in the Bosch platinums or platinum plus. Cons - Plus 4 are expensive and really don't give you any advantage over the regular platinums. Also, there have been a lot of recorded cases where the Plus 4's have dropped one of those additional electrodes off and fallen down into the cylinder. Bye-Bye cylinder. I have had workers at AutoZone, Oreilly's, and Pep Boys all tell me this and recommend not buying them. Even though they are the expensive ones...

Not to rain on your parade. I hope they serve you well with no issues.

If that happens to be the case, then Bosch will get to buy me a new motor. That's an easily disputable case. As for the price, Checker was out of the +2 Platinums, so got these for that price.

I don't know why ppl think it's a pain to do. I'm not even much of a wrench turner and I had my plugs changed in 1 hour.

From what they told me, Bosch has bought a few engines for people. I think/hope it was on the first of the plus 4's that hit the market. Maybe they are better now.

I have you beat on the plugs price though. I got 8 for the price of 2 at Pep Boys. Went in and got 8 for my Suburban. They gave me 2 boxes of 4 plugs. The goofball that checked me out at the register just scans each box once. Apparently the 4 pack box has the same sku as each individual plug. I had gotten several other things, so I did not notice until later on when I looked at the receipt. Nice surprise though.

Good luck,my buddy went through hell getting NGK to buy him a new engine when the electrode fell out and destroyed his 555cu in engine(at 8500rpm's,on the 3rd stage of NOS,and at about 190mph),he did get a new engine but it took a lawyer and he was even sponsored by NGK and they tried to ignore him.

Bosch Platinum 4 Spark Plugs

wow everyone relax lol, i bought them because i thought theyd be better the the regula ngks everyone runs, the set of spark plugs i took out were

NGK BKR 7ES - those are the plus i should run correct me if im wrong?

im going to grab another set tommmorow of ngks there like 15 at most for a set dosnt hurt to have to sets one for back up lol

+1 on this! I found this MUCH easier than changing the plugs on my '05 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi....there were 16!!!!! Same setup too, coil on plug design, with a secondary plug wire for each secondary plug. What a frickin' pain that was.

I'll take this design any day of the week. Heck, the Liberty is even better than doing a FWD V-6!

well I used them +4's in my Outback when I had it. I liked them, they were very efficent over the worn out NGK that was in.

Here is the thing and it is sound science there is only going to be one spark per cylinder per ignition cycle, I don't care how many ground electrodes you put on a plug. The electrical current is going to only take one path, the one of least resistance. so the only thing having more than one is doing is giving it other gaps to jump if another becomes less optimal.

I have changed the plugs on various vehicles and my KJ was the easiert by a long shot. Matter of fact, the kj has just been easy to work on in general. That's one of the reasons i love it so much.
