What did you do to your jeep today?

Interested to see if it makes any kind of difference. I don't spose you dyno tested yours before you started?

Heck no. This started out as just switching the intake, moving the air temp sensor and getting rid of the resonator box.

The polishing should definitely help the flow but the butterfly itself will limit the diameter no matter what you do. Would be interesting to see the dyno cause smoothing things can make a big difference even in intake tubes. My Ranger's BBK was polished from the factory but also added a 1/4 inch diameter at it's smallest diameter (butterfly). Difference in size was very noticeable. Claimed a 7-12 HP gain. I thought that was pretty optimistic but who knows? Main reason was my old one was all carboned up and had the "special" coating so cleaning it was a pain. BBK was about 230 and a replacement motorcraft was 450. Damn Fords are expensive to work on.

Made it home no issues!

Cool - thanks guys. Makes total sense now that you've described the process. Matching the "ports" so there aren't any rough edges to screw up the airflow.

Very recently replaced (today it is -4 degrees so I am hiding indoors..):

Complete front struts
Tie rods
Lower ball joints
Upper control arm with ball joints

All done with Moog Parts and thanks to creative coupon use at Advance Auto I paid roughly $400 for the parts. The loaner ball joint press from them saved me a few $$ as well.

I will say that removing the outer tie rods was the most difficult removal of anything I have ever done on my Jeep. Finally a torch and a two foot long pipe wrench saved the day. It rides like a new jeep now.

I can't imagine working on the Jeep outside in your low temps right now.
It hit 50F today, cool yet sunny. Hoping to do some more paint work around the gas tank skid, and do something about the solid rusted rear driveshaft before next fall.

Watching the snow pile up. Mostly teeny, fine little flakes. We've got over 3" now and it's supposed to snow for at least 5 more hours. Dry, fluffy stuff too. No snowballs from this.

Looks like you got a bit more than here in Frederick. Only about 3ish here. Did the drive around 7AM. Going out to start the fleet up now. was 5 at 7AM now it's a balmy 12. :gr_grin:

My hubby is outside now struggling with the riding mower (with plow) - idiot forgot that maybe he should have started and ran it over the weekend with the cold we've been having. Now he's got a 60 watt bulb warming the crankcase while the battery charges and the starter cools off.

Hehehehehe...I'm inside, doing my homework, nice and warm :icon_twisted:

I'm stalling, but up to 14 now. I'm about to go out and finish mine off (shovel for me). Got to start the Ranger and KJ and warm them up. Neither has run since Friday. Then back to my homework.

I replaced my Idle Air Control Valve which seems to have taken care of my strange RPM drop I was getting, Ripped out my horns and replaced them with FIAMM's Freeway Blaster High and Low tone horns, Massive difference in sound, Mine sounded super muffled, After replacing them I tested the old OEM ones, Low sounded super muffled and High did not even work LOL.

So we need a crankcase heater. Put the 60w bulb on the crankcase for an hour with a towel draped over top (to protect from the wind) and it fired right up, no problems.

Hubby's gonna see if he can scavenge one while at work (HVAC-R).

Leeann, I love it. Taking pics from inside while hubby is outside bundled up against the cold.
