Since I'm away with work just now, I'd gotten a friend to have a go at fitting that new front propshaft I got.

Turns out the new one looks like it's about 2" shorter than the original - I'm away so can't check myself - would any of you kind souls know the right length so I can chin our parts shop.

You are not alone:

KJ Font D/S Length 16 1/2" 0r 19" - JeepForum.com

Looks like a 30 inch collapsed length is needed.

Thanks for that :)

I spoke with the shop that supplied the D/S, and a longer one is on the way.

Fingers crossed for Monday delivery.

On my singular day off, this week, I got our KJ into the workshop and put the roof rack on.

I'd also managed to "liberate" some old spot lights from the stores at work and bolted them on as well.

Delighted to say, it doesn't rattle :party52:

Should easily get our tent and some other stuff up there

Love the lights! Will this be a 'round the clock expedition?

Nope, not at all - the lights were just laying there, it seemed a shame. They practically leapt onto the car all by themselves

WooHoo!

I've got a 4wd Jeep :D

The replacement front DS fitted perfectly.

And the snow has been falling this morning, just in the nick of time.

Next up, wire up all the extra lights.

My wife has been using it as her daily driver, so it is getting a good bit of use.

And, I managed to get next Sunday off, so I hope we can take her along to St Andrews and have a little lunch.

A wee update on the oil leak, looks like it's NOT the oil pan. It's that front crank seal. I'll need to search to see how big a deal it is to replace.

We got a little snow last night, but not nearly enough to really test her. Meh!

Guys,

I'm working away just now so can't get under the hood of my KJ for a looksee.

Is there a "How To" for changing that front crankshaft seal? I've had a look, but can't find anything. I'm hoping one of you knowledgeable folks would be able to fast track me ;-)

TIA
