What did you do to your jeep today?

removed the front driveshaft. Patch job didn't hold up and I didn't think it would after driving up to phx.

I also found that there's an rare intermittent misfire of cylinder 3 and 6. the check engine lights blinks on and off. This only happens on the highway. I don't see it for in city driving.
Going to move the coils to see whether the problem follows.

Anyone have any thoughts on my misfiring issue?

Always check the spark plug and gap first.
Even consider dropping in new plug first on 3 & 6. See if it still misfires etc..
A little dielectric grease to the inside of boot and then giver a switch if it's still in a bad mood.
If my jeep ever gives me this nonsense after a new plug attempt..I will buy 6 new coil packs.
BTW do we have a how 2 -on diagnostic/ testing each coil somewhere?

all my plugs are new and coil #3 is new too.
ill check the resistance of the coils too, got a how to print out from autozone the last time from AutoZone.

I found it easier to remove the seat if I moved it completely forward and tilted the seatback forward. Same thing to get it back inside the Jeep.

I need to deep clean the interior of mine, too...I'm probably hauling around 10 lbs of remnants from the Utah west desert and the high Uintas inside my Libby! Lol!

Ordered full set of seat covers, put on new lug nut caps. Appointment has been made for Wednesday to go into the shop and get the new door latch installed.

That and want to see if it has the heated seat wiring under the carpet. :gr_grin:

Oh man, Luke. Don't want to even think about that. I've spent a lot of time under the Jeep working on various things and haven't noticed any corrosion from the bottom side. Are you saying the rust is starting inside the Libby and moving out? That would really suck :favorites68:

To answer your question, no I didn't lift the carpet yesterday. I did a couple of years ago and didn't notice anything then. But rust can move fast can't it? :blah:

You guys are worried about the interior while I have been worrying about the exterior.
Winter is harsh on the paint job. I spent most of the afternoon getting a good final wax job done. I did a clay bar treatment a few weeks ago and just used a quick wax then. Hopefully this Meguires #3 hold up for the next 6 months.

I have rust around the rear washer sprayer, it seems somewhere along the line and I don't know how the sprayer wasn't damaged or could have been replaced but something hit it and pushed it in. That's pretty much the only actual rust I have on the Jeep which I need to take care of before winter hits. Also I need to touch up part of the door that has been chipped in the one corner.

When I was running wire for lights I noticed that I had some surface rust inside, under the carpet. It was quite obvious that it was due to wet boots/carpet. Sanded it all back to metal, self etching primer and POR 15.

Thanks to the Husky liners it looks like I just painted it, a year later.

That is the least of my rust problems though.. I'm afraid she's slowly disappearing.

Looks like they will be replacing that front cross member. I just retired from doing body work for over 40 years and don't miss it a bit! :icon_mrgreen:
