That was the first thing I did to my kj. They were so worn on mine, that the glass only lifted up half way at most.

Shoot, my glass didn't even lift up unless it was really warm out.

hit me pretty hard too. no attempt to stop.

biggest thing I'm worried about... the exhaust was knocked off the rear hanger. should I be worried about some shock to the exhaust and farther up stream to the engine? feels like it picked up a vibration too.

Looks like the person who did it came out on the worse end. I hope you are alright.

Ouch! Hope everyone was okay.

Good thing you had the rear safety reinforcement thing that looks just like a trailer hitch.

Yes I would check the whole exhaust system if he knocked it hard enough the break a hanger. Could have messed up something. Glad you are ok.

he didn't actually break it, just separated the hanger from the isolator...

still, I couldn't even do THAT when I wanted to while I was installing the hitch!
I'm going to request the adjuster include a replacement hitch in the estimate; I don't know if I'd want to trust this one after taking an impact like that.

Neck is sore and was warm/hot an hour after I got home. My head bounced off the headrest pretty damn hard.

John , I take it the hitch took much of the hit, but how is the spare tire mount/ gate / bumper?
Got any photo of the KJ from an angle..there must be some damage there I would expect as well.
The whole KJ should be inspected and have them definitely replace hitch and use OEM 10.9 bolts..make em pay for any damage!
That Mazda looks like a beer can crumpled up! :icon_lol:

the gate is damaged, as is the bumper and spare tire bracket.
I'm waiting to "dig into it" until the adjuster comes, so he can see the same things I do as I find them.

Had my first CEL pop up last night, its P0128 so my plan is to change coolant as that is on my list of things to do and change thermostat out, if still present I will change temp sensor, does this sound like a good game plan for the CEL? Also with the Zerex G-05 can I get the 50/50 mix or should I buy full strength and dilute it on my own? And lastly is it still alright to drive around town for a couple errands today as my wife needs to do a couple things around town but don't want to damage the engine.

PO128 means the engine hasn't reached operating temperature within a predetermined amount of time. A stuck open thermostat is a possibility and a good place start especially since a coolant change was on your list.
Other causes could be low coolant level, so make sure it's up to where it should be, or a bad coolant temp sensor or related circuit/harness issues. You won't damage the engine unless it overheats, which isn't as likely if it's an open stat in this cooler weather. Keep an eye on the temp gauge.

Just got the axle seal off! Took a Dremel and a slide hammer with a reverse jaw. I think the neighbors may have heard the scream of relief haha

DONE. Intermediate axle, bearing, seal replaced and everything assembled. Most nervous test drive I've had in a while. Now to work on a 2002 Subaru impreza! Haha

Thanks for the reply! I feel a little better now. What about the coolant, can i buy the Zerex G-05 50/50 blend or should I get the full strength and dilute it myself with distilled water?
