help me put together a lift

I was originally looking at the rocky road economy lift for my 06 kj but after reading the horror stories I've decided to steer clear of it. Id love to get the jeepinbyal lift but just don't have the extra cash to swing for it or even most of the full lifts on the market for that matter. Id like to be able to do about 2-2.5" of lift without breaking the bank or having a basically unusable jeep. What components would you guys go with on a budget to be able to clear a little bigger tire than stock?

Not being a wise a** but I think if you just took 30-45 minutes then all of your questions would be answered in the 100s of posts on here regarding lifts. Each posts describes what you are looking for
Either OME or Ironman full spring lifts includes shocks and springs
OME will get you 2.25-2.5, Ironman around 2-2.25
jeepinbyal has everything, one stop shopping
You're going to spend 800 or more no way around it. Sure you can go cheaper shocks but why do that when OME and Ironman have shocks that are made for their lifts and the KJ?

I've lifted several vehicles but they have always been solid front axles so all this talk about isolators, clevis,uca's etc. has me lost. So far from what I understand the clevis lift can be done to gain a little more lift but it doesn't work on the stock struts, uca's are needed after about 3-3.5" of lift and stock springs are a joke. Am I on the right track or am I still pretty lost?

Personaly, I think it's much more straight forward with the KJ when it comes to lifting and what needs replaced for what height, etc.

You can do a Clevis spacer right now without needing anything at all. Just measure no more than Half an inch gap at the clevis/shock and tighten. Easy 1" up front. No need for a spacer or anything there.

Its really very simple
take for example a OME 927 front setup
you'll get 2.5 inches of lift over new stock height of 19 inches
So you want more, well throw a clevis lift on, raise the shock up out of the clevis 3/8 of an inch for 3/4 inch lift, not enough yet install a 1/4 inch thick top plate for 1/2 inch more
So now you have a total of 3.75 inches of lift, which now you should have the JBA UCAs to do away with some of the UBJ/ Spring contact and make it easier to align.
For the rear OH you want it to sit level, well add two extra upper isolators and you're now level front to rear with OME 948 springs and appropriate length shocks
Its all very easy

So your saying for the front I can run the ome front springs with my stock struts? The struts are only a couple months old and would hate to have to replace the being that they are still I'm good shape

Personally I wouldn't, don't know what kind they are but here is the reason I wouldn't.
ONE they have been on with weak springs which has been over working the shocks, so although they have only been on a couple of months they have more wear than that
TWO, shocks that come with the springs are matched to that setup, work together to not only give height, but also better ride and handling. Using cheaper shocks then over works the springs which cause them to wear out quicker. Always replace together for best results

OK got ya. Now I plan to do some towing with the jeep so what will be my best bet as far as rear springs go?

I ran that lift on my KJ for over a year. It's a great lift and the ride is improved tenfold with it. I highly recommend it.

Now one question. What would crd springs do on a 3.7? Found crd springs with a stiffer spring rate for $85 for the pair new and was curious

ONLY if you have a aftermarket steel bumper and winch

Yes OEM not ome springs. Would there be any down fall besides a stiffer ride? I plan on at least adding steel bumpers front and back and a roof rack plus will be towing a trailer a fair amount so the springs will be getting a workout

I beleive they are rated at 410lbs for the CRD or something. You probably won't really see a lift from it but I could be wrong. I'd just get a set of Ironmans or something if you want a lift with it. I know the OEM springs and shocks where garbage with the KJ. I assume it was probably the same with the CRD parts used as well.
