I have noticed that the stock air intake is different in the 02 and 03 3.7l compared to the 04 and newer 3.7l. The hose between the stock airbox and the throttle body are different. Is their a specific reason for the design change and are they interchangeable? In the 02 and 03 models, they have a resonator box with two rubber hoses connected to it, but I haven't noticed the hoses from the pictures I've seen in the 04+.

I know the Pcv valve in my 03 is attached to the oil fill neck and not the airbox. I have no sponge bob.

yeah, my 05 has the pcv on the oil fill tube and I have a sponge bob too. I know they made some changes in the intake over the years but I don't know why?

I looked at the rubber tubing on my air intake. It goes from the intake resonator to the back of the valve covers on each side. Once I can use both hands again, I'm going exploring in the engine bay.

Where do your two breather tubes from the back of the engine connect? My 02's connect like the OP said, on both sides of the resonator box.

Once I get back home, I'll take some pictures. I'm camping and the only photo I have of my engine bay won't download. I sadly can't drive my kj right now. It's a stick and I have only one hand I can use currently.

The two rubber hoses do go directly from the air intake resonator box into the back of the valve covers by the firewall. There is also a pcv valve going into the oil fill tube. I don't have SpongeBob visiting my airbox. (Must be too dry in Colorado.)

They just deleted the silencer box on the newer models and re-routed the crank case breathers.

I just eliminated the breathers going into the intake all together,I also have the AFE intake.

Kinda hard to see, sorry only pic I have right now, but you can see 2 breathers along the firewall.1 is just left of the coolant tank and the other is below the passenger side wiper pivot point.
