Hi all..
I am having an AC issue with my new to me 04 liberty limited.
My AC is blowing hot air, so I thought it may have leaked out the coolant,
so I pop the hood,
I see(and hear)the compresser is spinning and engaging like normal,
I feel both the High and low metal tubes, the one with the black cap is hot, the one with the white cap is very very cold, so I believe I have coolant..
I have changed the knob inside to all positions that have the AC symbol, but I dont see an actual AC button.
anyone have a clue whats going on?
I am trying to avoid taking it to the shop and find it was something stupid I am missing..
I do a lot of wrenching myself, but all on motorcycles and they have no AC :)

Thanks in advance for any help or things to try..
Chuck

The AC button is right above the dials.
The one with the yellow light in the pic,the other is the rear defrost.
Make sure the temp dial is all the way to the cold side(blue).

Are you sure your Jeep has AC.
I have 2 Liberty's with AC and neither have the snowflake on the dial, just the button.
Can you post a pic of under the hood.
It should look like these pics

Yes winddancer has A/C. My 04 cluster looks just like this and I have cold A/C. It's active (as he said) when the dial is on any of the 3 snowflakes or on the defrost setting. However if it's blowing hot there is something wrong. What I don't know.

02-04 have the "snowflake" on the dial.

When you turn the temp knob between cold and hot there is a door that moves to route the air. I'm not sure how to get to it or the easiest way to check it on the liberty. I've never had to mess with mine before. Hopefully someone who has can give you more info.

Well thats what came to mind when I read it, but I try not to assume..
So, I guess a good test would be to move it to full heat and see if the air temp in the vents go up.. and if it is stuck, maybe turning the knob back and forth a few times may free it.. unless ofcourse it is electronic then that wont do squat..
I will try that when I get home tho..

lol, I was just kidding about the snowflake controls having "extra" positions. Not really, as there are duplicate positions on the AC and non-AC side. But, why the different controls within same model years, perhaps it's a Limited/Sport thing?

No, my 02 has the snowflake controls too. Why do you consider that jacked up? Our selector knobs have 2 extra positions!

Well because you can't do things like turn A/C on towards your face and have the defroster going. Just seems like the extra button gives so many more options.

Can't think of when I've ever needed AC on the face while the windshield needed to be defrosted! ;)
I don't see a combination front vent/upper defrost position on the other cluster. Am I missing something?
