Hi guys,

originally my ride (a Kj 2007 automatic) doesn't have any switch in the hood that enables alarm actives.

I want to add a switch and bring cables from door. However, I don't have any idea what cables to get to make this work.

Can you please give some ideas? Have anybody done this before?

Thanks in advance for your time.

If it's a factory alarm there may not be an option to add extra sensors to the system. You may have to upgrade to a Viper system or something along those lines.

Yes, it's a factory alarm. However, as for my understanding, it must be easy to extract parallel cables which activate the alarm when they are touched between them.

Seems simple enough, trace back one of the door pin switches from the door of choice. Tap into the lines and run them forward to a mounted pin switch under the hood. Then opening the hood would be like open that door. Easy peasy. Just tap in parallel as to not cause an issue, series wouldn't work out so well.

Hi Monkey Fargo,

well, my ride doesn't have pin switches, I guess that none of the KJ has pin switches.
The signal seems to come from lock/latch of every single door .

You are absolutely correct. Libertys as a whole do not have traditional pin switches. However, there are two wires that run into the latch assembly that take the place of a typical pin switch. I marked on the attached picture of a driver side latch assembly.

Thanks dude. If only two cables are involved it would be easy to do this job.

Is it very difficult to reach teh latch assembly? I mean, after taking off the door panel.....

Well there is the weather membrane (the plastic tarp looking stuff), and the assembly is shrouded (to prevent tampering by would be thieves), so yeah. But reaching into the door and tracing the wires back by hand to a more accessible location, IE one the door cut-outs, would be reasonably simple. Or better yet, trace the leads through the weather loom into the cabin for a more clean mod, but that would take a bit more.

I will take a look over this week end. I'll revert with outcomes.

There is no room to put extra wiring through the door harness. Find the color you want for That door switch in the kick panel and splice there.
