Just going to start a project log of a 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited my dad recently bought. Will update this thread with pictures and info

Little back story we use to have one back in 03-05 and didn't have a problem with it. Since then my dad has always liked them for some reason. He bought it for cheap So we plan on having to replace a few things. I got a car-fax and it was dealer maintained all its life which looked nice. Once it is done it should be a pretty nice cheap vehicle and should be great for Michigan winters

Finally got it home on Friday and started to work on it. It has been sitting for 7 months so it was a little rough
First was to clean the engine bay
After that I went ahead and changed the spark plugs (old one were gaped at .070 I would say a little worn out) then went ahead and changed theair filter.

After that I went to turn it around in drive way and thats when I noticed a leak. Well turned out to be the power steering hose (found out its common on these) So my dad and I tackled that yesterday.

Now today is all new brakes on all four

The plan is to get a small lift and put some 31's on it for just something clean and simple

Here are pictures to start off with

Looks like a good start
stick with 30s on tires less hassle, no regearing needed etc
With the age a full spring lift with new shocsk etc would make it ride 100 times better

Lift and tries are later lol Have to get it running condition first. Changed all the brakes and my dad changed the t-stat and when we went to bring it up to temp another ps hose started to shoot fluid everywhere again now we have to take the whole front apart again and see what it is.

My dad wanted a project so here it is lol.

Everyone says to stick to 30" tires why? My 04 has 31's and seems to be just as peppy as stock I say go for the 31's

31s as peppy ?
Can't be not as peppy as stock

That is setting the bar pretty low. There have been many days in the last year when I wish my Jeep hadn't had nearly new (stock replacement) tires on it. If I had HAD to change them I would have. The rest of the Jeep is perfect, but those daggone things do better in snow than they do on a slightly rainy day.

(Which again, is setting the bar pretty low...) :mad3:

Well we changed the brakes front and rear on Saturday problem free. Changed the t-stat and let it warm up and then power steering fluid was going all over the place again.

This time it was coming from the lines on the rack and pinion so off comes the fans and everything again. Had that all apart on Sunday and was awaiting lines. Got them on Tuesday and installed them. Finally power steering is all fixed now.

Put everything back together and it would not start. Got the codes and the camshaft sensor took a crap (turns out that is common too) so had to run to the auto parts for that. After we installed that everything was working property and was able to take it for a ride to test the brakes. Pull back in the driveway and no problems.

Awaiting seat covers and floor mats

Well Yesterday my dad and I redid the wheels. We sandblasted and then painted them. Went with black because figured it would look good with the dark green. Turned out pretty good. Just waiting for them to cure. Hopefully later in the week we will get the new tires to put on.

Now we need a picture of them on your Jeep. Mine is the Dark Jeep Green as well and I plan to do the wheels up in black myself.

You and your dad did a great job.
