I used to drive Rig for a bit so I'm really uptight on gear shifting as well, I shift religiously at 2500 rpms and I have a six speed, also helps out when running on the streets popping up to a higher gear. Only time I shift higher than 2500 is getting onto 35/80 south from Hickman since its an uphill battle and then I go no higher than 3000 on the shift. Took me a couple months of experimenting to get maximized fuel economy in shifting gears but I've found the perfect timing.

I forgot we live in the same city lol I was thinking "those road names sound familiar"

I'm usually downtown (where I work) or near the drake area. I venture to the south side every once in a while. I like driving past that used Jeep dealership on Fleur near the airport that has all the modified Wranglers.

I know exactly what you're talking about, usually you'll find me around SE14th since I live on the SE Side. I work at Stew Hansens so I'm always taking 235 to and from work. Though I wonder about that dealership sometimes, I know most of the dealerships in that area and wouldn't buy a vehicle from any of them. So if I were to venture onto his lot, I would use a lot of caution.

spark plugs

Hey everyone new guy here. I was just curious about something. I have an 06 liberty and I was getting around 20mpg. I replaced the spark plugs with the same ones it had and my fuel mileage went to 17.5mpg Has anyone widened they gap on the plugs and gained mpg? The old plugs were gapped around .70 which i know is way to much but just found it strange that I lost mpg just by replacing plugs. Thanks

I'm going to clean my TB tonight out of boredome. See if that helps me any with getting a mile or 2 back. Is there a gasket that needs replaced if I take the TB off of the Jeep to clean it? (would hate to get it removed just to find out I had to find a way back to the auto parts store for something I missed)... I did it with my Mazda 6 a few years ago when I had it but I don't recall having to replace a TB gasket, but my memory ***** so there probably was.

I have not gone below 18.4 mpg's after getting used to driving a stick on a daily basis.:happy107: The last two tank fills have resulted in 19.18 and 19.33 mpg's. The first one was all but 48 miles in the city and the second was all city at or under 45 mph. confused2.gif :icon_mrgreen: The only things I have done since I bought it was gap the spark plugs, replace both diff's with new fluid, and the transfer case with new fluid. I already started telling people I have a miracle Jeep.

I get less than any 4.0 I have ever owned, but the comfort and fact that its not a grand cherokee is worth it.

Just finished a full tank and refilled. The light came on so I pulled in to the nearest BP almost immediatly after. Took 16.1 gallons to fill it back to full so I still had 4 gallons left in the tank. THe light came on at 238 miles on the odometer so I got about 14.7 mpg 100% city driving no highway/interstate at all.

I'm really bad at math but that's what I came up with.

That is with 4" lift and 245/75R16 MaxTrax mud tires on (they are heavier then normal due to being a retread)

Since I changed to synthetic oil, I have gained about 2 mpgs. Last few tanks have been around 19 avg. That's just quick figuring at the gas pump, but using the same method I was getting 17ish before the switch.

The dealership changed the oil before I bought it. I have six quarts of castrol edge syntec just waiting to be used and only half way to changing the oil. I changed the transmission fluid today and I'm going to see if that does anything.
