Ordered my Rock Lizard bumper -Just had a few questions

Last night I finally ordered the RL convertible bumper. I ordered just the center w/ winch mount along with grill guard, only Martin is going to make it a stinger style for me. I didn't have enough for the wings as well so I just got the center and guard.

My main question is what do I do with my turn signals? Anyone else have just the center portion? If so what did you do for turn signal mounting? I am completely lost on what to do here and hope any fabrication if need isn't beyond my ability to do

I figure I got at least 30-45 days before it ships so I'm trying to plan out as much as I can now so I'm ready for everything when it arrives.

Also with painting I'm going with flat black, any recommendations on paint? Should I use self etching primer too?

You may want to give POR15 a try since it does come in a Semi Gloss black or something of that matter as a base coat before painting it flat black to help out since you know how harsh our winters are. I want to see it in person when you've mounted it up!

Since you have the grill with the fog lights, why not rewire the turn signal lights to where the fog lights are? Then just slap some amber bulbs in there and call it a day. I have no idea if that is feasible and have not done so myself but it would be the first thing I would try to do if I got a different bumper.

That's exactly what I have thought about doing when I get a bumper...anyone done this?

I really don't want to lose my fogs for the time being though. I'd prefer to find a way to keep the signals in the same location they are now near the outside.

I see in this picture on RL's site it looks like it's riveted up, I wonder how he did that it what it's attached to. I'll have to take a look at what's behind that area.

I'll post up some pics for sure and about the install for sure.. From what I hear it's extremelly easy to install.. The turn around is about 45 days so it won't be until around there that I can post anything pic wise up. Gives me something to look forward to for the next month which is nice. I'm really excited for it though. I've heard many great things about RL and Martin and the quality of work so I know it'll be badass even without seeing it in person.

Its almost like you can just cut out a section of your existing front bumper and mount it in without any issues, rather than going to the extreme like in that picture. I wonder if that has been attempted.

very easy to run a small strip of metal from the " frame" over to support the light like William did in the photo above

Just don't get carried away and start hacking away metal that shows like i saw on " another site":thumbsdown:

After taking a brief look at it (I have my bumper plastic trimmed already so easy access) It should be pretty easy to just run a peice of metal across as a brace for the signal light.

No way will I be cutting up any metal from the front though. Aside from the small adjustment to the 2 holes that are needed for mounting.

I was thinking of using something along the lines of this to mount the light on:

I'm kind of freaking out though.. I mean it's been like 1.5 business days since I placed my order and I still haven't received my bumper yet...:flamingdevil::evillol::beatdeadhorse5:
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

So for those that have the full bumper how sturdy is it? Just curious to know how it matches to say the ARB and stuff?

I know the ARB is a solid one piece where as the RL is a center and wings and guard all attached not as one piece. Is it as sturdy as the ARB?

Only asking since I live in Iowa and it's about that time where deer are everywhere.

I swear they're arming themselves with machine guns or it could have been the fact I was so tired driving late at night it was hallucinations.

The center section is very strong, the wings are just cosmetic and made to be replaced as they just "fill in the gaps".

Okay gotcha. That makes sense. Than you so much for answering that for me.

it was a dumb question I know just really excited is all lol

How about ......
Its not as strong as an ARB - yes I've tested them extensively:Big Laugh:
But WAY stronger than stock plastic bumper
Of course I added a small brace to each side as well to strengthen mine a little more

Sorry didn't see your question sooner

I was just curious was all. I don't plan to go hit deer or anything stupid. Was just curious on how it compared to the likes of ARB and stuff. Thank you for the answer!
