I am looking to mount a flashlight to my seat for quick access. I have done some research and some shopping around but would like to see what everyone's opinion is on different lights. I am thinking either the maglight LED 2D cell or the maglight LED 3D cell. Anything else I should be looking at?

Mag lite has clips, you can use. Somebody has done it. I have them and haven't . That's about 6 things I've planned to do and haven't .

I was going to just use quick fists I think. Maybe the clips would be better for fast access.

I still have an old school MagLite D Cell ... been through everything still works like a champ. I use rechargeable D cells which weigh next to nothing.

Same here.

I have the MagLite clips and have them mounted to the side of the driver seat - very handy.:waytogo:

Maglite 2D L.E.D.
If I remember correctly, both the 2D and 3D have the same lumens, just that the 3D will last a bit longer. I use rechargeable batteries to negate that advantage.

Mounted on Passenger side of console. Just make sure to find that happy spot where it won't interfere with the seat when it's all the way forward, or the glovebox door opening.

I already have my cb there! The mag lite site says that the 3 has more lumens. I'm also thinking of adding a bust-a-cap. Just in case.

My old d-mag-light is just tucked in between the passenger seat rail and the hump. (power seat rail). Doesn't interfere with the seat operation and it stays put good. All I have to do is reach over and grab it. Can't put it on the drivers side as there is a fire extinguisher living there already. I was going to mount it somewhere but never got around to it....LOL

Have mine, a 2d LEd mounted to the left side of the driver seat. I used the Mag clips. Kind of a PITA and only have one screw in one clip, but it works. You will need machine screws to mount, not the self tapping ones.

There are better, brighter, smaller, lights, BUT these things just never quit. I have one on the min toolbox with clips and an old 3 cell with a LED conversion from Malkolf that ROCKS. It hangs on 1 clip by the back door.

Clips

I have a 2AA cell maglite mounted on the left hand side of the driver's seat bracket and 3D cell mounted on the right hand side of the passenger seat bracket. I have had them for years and they hold the light tight enough that they stay in place. Mag lite makes mounts and a company called Nite Ize (I believe) makes several different mounts. It is easier to find the Mounts online thab in stores, from my experiance anyway. One tip install the brackets at a angle with the front higher. This will keep the light from vibrating out of the bracket, and keep it in place when things get rough. I got my first maglite way back when they were known as the light the popo hit you with!: smokin:

I had mine mounted to the passenger side front seat with the plastic maglite clips. It didn't last more then a few weeks until the clips broke, I know of other people it happened to. Now I keep it sitting on the floor between the door and seat.
