Hi Gang,

Longtime forum lurker and finally made the commitment to register. My wife's KJ has given her about 120k problem-free miles but since the winter her luck (and my luck) started to change. On-going cold start problems, leaky valve cover gaskets, bad O2 sensors, and spark plug problems.

Thanks to 'new jeep owner' for his help in the valve cover gasket replacement!

And now onto why it stalls after start on a cold engine...

Nice! I came 'this close' to buying a place there years ago. I'm in Wethersfield.

Not far at all ;)

I grew up there because my parents bought a place before it got expensive. Now they live in an in-law apt in a different house with my brother and his family (1-story because my mom's replacement hip and knee doesn't handle stairs well). It was the only way either could still afford to live in town.

I assume you've checked all vacuum lines, checked and cleaned the IAC, etc?

Vac lines are good, just cleaned the throttle body and IAC. Took a little time to start but that was likely because I was generous with the carb cleaner.

Yep, it takes a little bit to burn all that off.

I did the 'key trick' to display stored codes on the instrument cluster and just got the words 'done' to signify there weren't any. I also do not have the CEL illuminated. Is it possible that there is a code somewhere but not illuminating the CEL and that I would only get it if I hooked it up to a reader and not by doing the key 3x?

If it doesn't start tomorrow morning it will be reluctantly going to the dealer because I'm stumped.

Sorry, don't know. I have a scanner, so I've never done the key dance.
