Today I removed the rear UCA, pressed and beat out the bushings and ball joint. Wire brushed the rust, installed new parts. Painted and reinstalled. Also cleaned the dust off the max air door screen and installed silverstar reverse lights, cleaned my wheels and tires and topped off front axle fluid. I get so much done when wifey and the baby aren't home!!!!

It was warmer in the middle of Oklahoma today than in Houston. So I put it on stands and pulled the rear differential cover off (ever so slowly) drained the gear lube cleaned everything up inside and out pulled the axles and replaced the wheel bearings and seals. replaced everything with Timken bearings and seals, new lube and additive.

Changed the plugs. NGK coppers this time. First time in about 50k (yes, I know :slap:). Old Bosch Platinum+4s didn't look too bad as far as wear but some serious white/grey residue. Number 1 plug was only finger tight to begin with surprised it wasn't misfiring. Lots of brown residue on that plug and up around the coil to the O-ring. Fired right up and idled SO MUCH BETTER. SMOOOOOTH. :rockit:

Not the mountains.
Sprayed the entire exterior and underbody off. Looks much better without all the built up sand/salt mix caked on it. It was hilarious watching people around here dealing with 2-3 inches of snow.:jester:

Treated the inside of the windows all the way around with Rain-X Fogging Wipes, tightened down the battery holder, found the battery was a little loose.

you know you can go on the autodesk website and under communities pick students & educators, and create an account and you get full access to educational versions of everything the have...including inventor....the bumper looks great, even on looseleaf.

woo hoo, fixed the "misfire" problem today!
Took my '04 KJ to a mechanic friend a few days ago. He hooked his computer up and told me #2 cylinder was misfiring. He told me to change the plugs first considering the mileage is 180k and I didn't know the history.
Money is tight, so I bought 1 plug (I'll do the other 5, don't worry). The old #2 plug was tan and gap burned very wide. New plug didn't correct the problem. I read in another Jeep forum that neglecting plug maintenance can eventually lead to coil failure.
Next stop, local pick & pull to grab a $9 used coil (I might get all brand new when I can afford it). Changed it out and voila! Problem "misfire" solved. Next week, 5 more plugs.
By the way, I stuck with Champion 434 copper plus plugs for three reasons.
1. I didn't want an oddball type plug in the #2 spot even for a test repair
2. It was cheap
3. Copper conducts a hotter spark than those fancy dancy super-split-platinum-titanium-alloy-carbide-core etc. etc. plugs. (I'll just change 'em again in a couple years)

Plain old copper core work best anyways , and change them every 25-30,000 miles . Mine get changed every 25,000 just cause its fun and easy and she likes it so much when I swap them:icon_razz:

I just hit 60,000 so changed the plugs and replaced the air filter. Also took her to the car wash for a good underbody wash.
