It cracked open where the metal meets the rubber.

Looks like mine cracked at the same spot. Should have changed both sides when I did the pads a couple months back. They looked a bit haggard. Haven't lost a line in a long time but never fully lost braking until I pulled it into the garage. Then some e-brake help and I was parked. Off to Napa tomorrow morning to get some replacements.

That's what I'll be doing to my KJ tomorrow.

Let me know how the Napa one fits. Mine went out right as I was getting to work, so I only did the left side right there, as needed. I got mine at Advance Auto, but the square block/banjo fitting end didn't fit between the caliper body and tab. I had to grind it down some to gain clearance. When I do the other side (as a preventative measure) I'm not getting the hose from Advance.

I got a closer look at mine and it burst right where yours did

I just soaked the fender well ends down on both sides with PB. I always hate those plastic coated hard lines like the ones that go from the master cylinder to the inner fender fittings. When I did the rear brakes they were fused to the wheel cylinders. The fitting wouldn't spin and I had to cut them off and replace the hard lines all the way back to the split on the Diff.

Thumping noise is still there despite anchoring parts of the inner well, still can not get to the bottom of what is making that noise. I even re-anchored the front license plate bracket with two additional screws towards the bottom part.

Odometer hit 80000 tonight just as we got home from an outing up north. Pitched in to help a small town remove debris from the biblical floods last year. Saw some incredible devastation needless to say. Saw a JK ram a wheel into a rock, and watched a badland (HF) winch drag out trees over and over. I dragged some old trailer loaded to the gills in wood to another location for some work release guys to split wood.

I was curious about that winch but it seems to be pretty reliable based on reviews

I haven't been posting lately since I've been so busy, but I am just so proud of Mr. Darcy that today I had to share. We towed my dad's extended cab Tacoma with boat trailer and boat attached off the boat ramp (think true island style terrible shape) on which he was stuck, in the water, up the boat ramp through the parking lot and into the bushes. We are now a legend at Hull Bay :) And I saved my daddy.

so I wasn't the only one having to machine the block. I had to do both of mine from Advanced. They seem to be of good quality but to ensure no threading issues with the banjo bolt, if you can't easily hand thread it, grind the block down a little. I really had to tighted it down to crush the copper washers too.

It was the 12k variant, and only issue I seen was repeated use without winding the cable back right was resulting in a tangled mess on the spool. He had the wireless adapter for it, so he could stand well away from the vehicle and it still worked. I shared a video on my FB page of us dragging some junk out with it. I cant find the video on youtube or I'd post it on here. They are slow, maybe very slow, just nothing to compare it to. It wouldn't budge a wooden beam, but in fairness, the beam may have been attached to a structure under the river mud(wooden bridge?) and another guy even with a $natch block could not get it to move either.

Alright, I promised an update for cactusjacked too. Just did brake hoses on both front sides in about an hour. The Napa were a tight fit but went on okay. I think that banjo end needs to be very snug against that caliper nub in order to remain stationary and not twist with suspension travel. Made in China but seemed like good quality machined surfaces. I was tempted to file a bit off the driver side but with a bit of wiggling/rocking while tightening it went on just fine. Pass side was easier. May have been due to a bit of corrosion. Pushed about 8oz of clean fluid through each caliper. The copper washers will crush just fine with the 23 ft/lb torque that is recommended. Very soft metal. Did both sides and very fortunate. The passenger side was "wet" at the same spot the Dside ruptured. Dodged another big thrill there.

I was shocked at how great everything under there looked considering an 02/160k and lots of salt in Northern MD. Did the ball joint test and everything. I bought it with about 80k on it and I'd have to guess the struts were changed just before I got it cause they looked great.

The back however... Next weekend will be tri-link time!

yep tri-link for me as well this coming weekend. Annoying squeek from the rear, and a clunk over bumps, that BJ is sloppy, hope it lasts through the week.

Yep on the clunk. Can't drown it out by turning the radio up any more. I'm sure I'll need some other stuff back there as well. May just get some rear shock while I'm at it. they look pretty rough. Saw some Bilsteins on sale somewhere.

Thanks for the update 02. From the sounds of it, yours fit way better. There was no way mine would begin to go on without grinding the sides down, and it needed way more than just a little shave. Filing any corrosion off the caliper is the first thing I did, but there wasn't much. Kinda makes me wonder what those fittings were sized against? They certainly don't work right out of the package.

ordered the BJ from Napa, and bushings. Already started the PB soaking yesterday, will hit again mid week. Hopefully they will press out.

and this is off topic but it is truly disgusting how we can't rely on any manufacturers to sell quality, no modification, or get the consumer just past the warranty, junk. How buying American is near impossible. Pathetic. I almost get excited when I see Made in Mexico or Brazil as opposed to China.

And I agree with KJScott on the crapshoot it is buying parts anymore. Just can't tell what you're going to get until you try to put it on. I have a Ford too and I can still count on Motorcraft... so far.

I did order the whole tri-link from Mopar Online Parts. Figure just unbolt the old and bolt up the new.
