Hello this is my first time posting but I have received a ton of information on this site to keep my Jeep going. Thanks to everyone here.

So my 2006 Liberty Limited 4x4 started running rough and stalling. Wife was driving at the time and said that is just happened while driving, literally going from normal to rough while moving. She also said there was no clunks, clanks, or loud bangs when it happen. It just ran real rough.

Fast forward after diagnosis I isolated it to a broken intake valve spring on #2 cylinder. Confirmed by removing valve cover I could see the broken spring. The valve itself appears intact and the rocker does not appear damaged. However the gap between the lifer and valve is noticeable. The Springs parts still put some tension on the retainer and everything appears to be in its "proper place". All other cylinders have compression in the 190 +/- 2 psi range.

Question: for a low budget fix to replace the spring what other parts should I replace along with the spring ( lifter, rocker, retainers, ect)? Also where is a good place to source parts? I cannot afford a full rebuild of the head at this time.

Thanks for any help

You're lucky it didn't cause any other damage. The '06 is known to have weak valve springs. I had one break on me. Dropped the valve, broke rocker arm...long story short I needed a full upper engine rebuild which ended up costing me about $3000. KJ had like 87,000 miles at the time. I'm at 105k now with no more major problems. Would definitely recommend doing all of your springs and seals. Probably a matter of time before another spring goes and you may not get off so lucky next time.
