My 06 Liberty will not start. It started drove 1/4 mile went home turned off 2 min. later would not start. It has not been acting any different from normal. I turn the key on and everything works as it should but turn the key to start and it does not turn over. All the dash lights work, the power windows work, headlights work etc. The battery was a little low 10.5 but Oreilly's replaced it sence I am having problems, no change. Took the key to the dealer and had them check the chip (WCM) it is good. Disconnected the battery to reset the computer, no change. I checked all fuses and relays under the hood and under the dash all good, no change. I checked the nutral safety cable that runs from the shifter to the ing. switch it's ok. Where do I go next?

Could be the actuator pin in the ignition has gone bad. Do a search on here, hasn't happened to me yet but is fairly common. If it turns out to be that, do the repair yourself. If I remember those threads correctly, the stealer usually wants to replace the whole unit which costs a bundle.

I'd Check it at the starter, starter cable and solenoid first if the battery is known to be good.

What jbarthol said^^^^^ 90% chance the ignition actuator pin is broken......lots of posts everywhere about how to replace it and where to get the actuator assembly at a good price.

In the meantime put the Jeep in neutral, switch on ignition, remove Starter Relay and jumper out pins 30 and 87 in the relay socket....should turn the engine over so remove the jumper in a hurry!

Thanks for the help I got here I was able to trace the problem back to the actuator pin. My local NAPA had it in stock. Not as difficult as I had feared to fix.

Sometimes the actuator pin is too long (the thin white plastic piece). If u haven't fixed it yet and its not fitting into the ignition, snip just about 1/16" off the tip. The aftermarket ones tend to be a but longer. But if not and it works/ worked, lucky you.
