Alright so I took out the parking brake shoes since they were basically gone and destroying things....
Now I've got a clicking noise and my guess is that the cable is rattling but it sounds more like its rubbing on something now.

Bought one on Wednesday!!!! Saturday I Replaced the radiator, hoses, and thermostat that some goofball put in backwards! How do you do that lol. That explained the overheating issue. Pulled all the tires off to check on the brake system. Today started to take the dash out to figure out why the temp selector operates in reverse???? Blue is hot and red is cold, the guy i bought it from said it has done that ever since the Heater core was replaced. I took every screw an nut and bolt I could see with no luck is there some hidden fasteners, cause that thing is still solid! Ordered a Hanes manual today to help in this venture.

Congrats!

Lots of people are clueless on thermostats. Happens all the time if you don't pay attention to how it came out.

As for a Haynes, it might help, but the FSM is here:

...Lots of people are clueless on thermostats...

My dad was a H.S. Math teacher and many years ago had the guys at the auto shop class do his thermostat. He got about a 1/2 mile down the road before it boiled over. I think he gave them a little geometry lesson afterwards about exactly what a 180-Degree difference in positioning can make. :signs8:

Just drove it out to do some hiking, nothing special.
Not even any pretty leaves to look at.

Same here, Tom.
Drove it to Perot S.P. to do some hiking on the bluffs. Then drove up to Upper Mississippi Wildlife Refuge for some more hiking.
Hasn't been a good fall for colors this year
