Hey,
This typically happens once in the morning the first time I start my car and doesn't happen for the rest of the day. Consistent every morning. I start my car, the red oil light comes on and stays on. I restart it, goes away.

No codes. What's up?

First place I would head to would be the sending unit, its located right above the oil filter on the 3.7
Wouldn't hurt to have the oil pressure checked but more than likely thats what it is ( the sending unit)

I had the same thing happen with my Camry. I thought it was sender but it wasn't. I ended up losing the whole motor due to low pressure. The problem started out with the oil light coming on during cold start up and going away once it was restarted. One day the light came on while on the freeway and the engine started making a loud noise.

The very first thing I would do in your case is check the pressure. I wouldn't even drive it until it was checked.

Faulty Oil Pressure Sending Unit, or at least that's what it was with my Libby not long after getting her. Would also recommend checking the pressure as well.

Edit: For some odd reason Toms post didn't show up on Tapatalk, which I was using at the time. Just follow his advice.

Is having adequate oil level synonymous with having adequate oil pressure?

The two aren't necessarily linked, no.

It's not uncommon for Liberty oil pressure sensors to go bad and set off the pressure light. If you Google it, you'll find lots of examples where replacing the sensor fixed the problem, in fact I don't think I've seen any for the Liberty where the problem was actually low oil pressure. My 2005 is doing it at the moment, and I have a replacement sensor ready to put in when I can get round to it.

It can also throw a "pending" code, meaning that you won't get the Check Engine light, but if you do the key dance, you'll see a code. I'm getting P0522 at the moment, which is Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch Circuit Low Voltage.

All that said, an oil pressure check wouldn't go amiss.

I would pick up the new sensor and then install it when you do your next oil change - the area of the sensor is easier to access when the oil filter is out of the way.

Was the oil sending unit contributing to intermittent light. Had it replaced. Thank you.
