I purchased a safety inspection and a new tag sticker for my Jeep today. I also vacuumed it out. Nothing exciting but still important. I ordered a hitch extension so I can use my hitch basket and clear the spare.

took the preload off the rear lca bushings from when they did the recall last summer, seems softer now in the back. Noobs at dodge really torqued them on good, took considerable effort with a 3/4 " drive impact from to slacken them after twisting off 3/8 drive adapter for my deep sockets with the breaker bar. Easily 150% of what it should have been.

guess i need new deep 1/2" drive sockets.

Also ran the 12 V lead to the wiring harness i ordered from hitch web a year ago. Found the floor popout under the carpet in the back to run the 12V lead inside the cab. Hopefully trailering back 2008 Smokercraft Pro angler w 115 optimax this weekend. Good thing Manitoba is boringly flat as i see 8 hours with the overdrive locked out in my future.

Nice boat! Unless you have a good headwind I'll bet you could tow that boat in OD. I've towed mine in relatively hilly Ohio on the interstate at 75mph in OD with no real problems. When I see hills coming up that might be an issue I hit the OD button to drop it down before it has to labor too much.

Need to title this, "What my KJ did FOR me today..."

Driving to Pennsylvania, was stopped at a light and a guy driving a VW Jetta wasn't paying attention. I watched him coming fast in my rear view, slam on his brakes at the last second then...WHAM! (Argh)

Got out to survey the damage to the KJ and...

Nothing!

A couple of scratches along the bottom of the bumper, the Jeep hitch cover was split - but nothing else! Didn't even break the tab on the trailer harness connector...

Walked over to the Jetta and - uh - ouch. When he hit the brakes he nose-dived under my hitch and it went into his grill, wrinkled his hood, tore up his bumper, broke his headlight. And my spare made nice rubber marks along the hood. Tough to see in the pic but if you blow it up you can see.

It's funny, because as good as the KJ stops, even on crap tires ThunderbirdJunkie's Jetta stopped better than his KJ on bad ass tires. There's no excuse for that level of inattentiveness.

Thanks Czar - doing fine. Guy at the body shop I took the Jeep just shook his head when he saw what my hitch did to the Jetta when I showed him the pic. Said it's a good thing I didn't have my ball mount in the hitch cuz it wouldn't have stopped till it hit the engine :jawdrop:

Darn ... maybe next time you'll get the RockLizard Rear bumper paid for ;)

Glad your OK Bub!

Luke, insurance might pay for rock rails/sliders and a new 4X Guard ****** skid. Or maybe I should get the 4.10's ...? :anitoof:

I'm always torn between keeping mine in for protection and watching it rust away ... and I just can't roll with one of those hitch ball condom things ... :D

The seal they put in the cv near the Diff is bad I think

Crikey don't they look at the damn thing before they put it in? I'd be pissed if it wasn't free :D .. not that your time is.

I paid a shop to replace my seals ... but I waited until I had the front axles out ;) ... took 10 minutes and cost me 20 bucks.
