I'm having a problem with the temp of the heat coming out of my vents, don't know if it's a problem with the heat blend actuator and/or the the heat blend doors. Heat comes out luke warm at best no matter what the fan speed is on.

Radiator, thermostat, hoses, water pump, rad cap all replaced within the last 6 months. Jeep doesn't overheat and temp gauge runs 1/2. Coolent level is at cold level when Jeep engine is cool. Both hoses going to heater core are hot.

Running out of options. Also where are the exact locations of the heat blend actuator and easiest way to get to it w/o removing dash.

This is the wife's car. I drive a 96 XJ and runs like a top. The liberty is killing me with all the problems in the last couple of years.

Any help will be appreciated.

You said any help so I'll chime in. I recently encountered this heater issue. It may seem elementary, but my coolant level was low. The orange tint to the coolant tank does not help the matter. I had to shake the tank and stick a flashlight against it. Old vehicle, whatcha gonna do :33:

I'm a Yooper.
Could be a resistor, I only had speeds 3&4 until my mech replaced it. It could also be your heater core. Mine burns hot as fire n cold as ice now in speeds 1-4.

Behind the glovebox. Open it, pinch in the two latches and drop all the way down. Slide to the right and it will come off.

Resistor is right in front of you.

Good evening everyone,

As far as your KJ blowing cold air when the HEATER is on shows signs that your heater core may be clogged. Mine was doing the same thing and I flushed mine out. A lot of gunk came out of it and then I used some bleach to remove more of that mold that was in there. Flushed it with some water and now it's super HOT!

I followed this video and it worked out great! Hope this helps...

Well, had the same issue a few weeks ago with my wife 02 KJ, after some diagnostic time, (im a BMW tech) found that the heater core was clogged, funny thing is that i flush it a few times and the water was coming crystal clear... so i keep looking, put a fiber optic camera trough the vents to see if the blend door was working properly, and i also put a new thermostat. Finally and ended replacing the heater core, remove the whole dash out, not and easy job, took me like 5 hrs R&I. After the heat was working again i cut by half the old heater core and found like 15 individual tubes, 4 of them were good, the other ones completely clogged, (thats why i was getting crystal clear water during the flush, and very low heat).... By the way, 124k miles.
