I have an 06 and my clutch blew, I have seen on the 02-05 the 82.5" belt bypass for the ac, I'm not looking for something permanent but I need to drive the jeep for the next week until I can get this new clutch in. I know nothing about the ac clutch/pulley assembly but would there be a way to pull my clutch, and coil and just use the ac pulley as an idler pulley so I don't have to worry about burning anything up? Are there any quick fixes I can try? I have searched but could only find tips on the early kj's. thank you all any help would be appreciated.

Surely the 2006 will not be much different to the 2005 as far as fitting a 82.5" belt?

What due you mean by your clutch "blew"? Did it electrically burn out or has the bearing failed/seized? The AC bearing normally takes the strain of the drive belt in any case so I do not see why you cannot continue with the clutch disabled by removing the AC Relay for a while.

If it's seized, you can bypass it on any 3.7L Chrysler engine with that belt. The belt and pullies are the same design (unless there's a differently designed 3.7L, but as far as I know it doesn't matter if it's a WK, KJ, or KK.)

Well I guess I was wrong, and one more question, any preference on belts to get the best grip on the water pump? The back of the belt only has 1/4 contact with the pump and I don't want to do more damage than good.

I just grabbed what they had at Advanced Auto (Dayco?). I know a lot of people don't suggest it but it was readily available for me. I've had no problems.

I got the belt on, and it looks great, except for it is rubbing up against the ac pulley just a bit, I am either going to go ahead and get the ac pulley off or turn the ac out of the way just a hair and see what I can do.

Yeah I know a couple people took it off. There's a thread around here somewhere I believe. Just search for it!

Cheers!

Hey guys, thank you all, the ac wouldn't rotate on either bolts so I used a longer bolt and a spacer on the one in the back and just put the driver side bolt in to hold it above its spot. The ac is out of the way and the 06825 (I think) belt that is actually 83ish inches. It all works, thank you all for the help.

Here's the image I made of the path a while back... new fresh link :D

I used a 82.5" belt. Fit great, lasted until I fixed it properly.

That's originally what I thought with my belt but I had a good 6" slack in the belt that's why I was asking for a diagram, also I don't like the minimal contact on the water pump. I used the way posted on one of the threads above with my belt, mine looks exactly like that but my whole ac is lifted 1/2" for clearance.
