Anyone not lifted running steelies in 15's and say 235/75/15 (or another 15" size) tires? Anyone with pics?

According to my calculations this "should" work stock as the tire size is almost the same as 235/70/16. 4" or 4.25" BS would push tire out around 1.3" (for 4.25" BS) to 1.5" (4" BS)...A lot of good tire options in that size too.

Not that I need a new setup right now...I just like to fiddle and I know a place where I can get soft 8's in 15x7 4" or 4.25" BS for good price.

I've heard they won't fit over the rotors and calipers. Someone wanna chime in and confirm?

Actually I checked again and it looks like they will BARELY fit with 4" of BS.

I ran 15x7 and 15x8 soft 8 wheels. They clear calipers-not by much.

Soft 8s and other aftermarket steelies will clear the calipers but not much room
Problem comes in when you try and run 4 inches of back spacing unlifted.
Sitting the tire and wheel out over an inch will get you when turning the wheels in the front and rear ( front end, rear would be fine)
then,
With spring sag etc its a safe bet that you'd rub

Either while non-lifted? What was the BS on the wheels?
Had lift, like the Rev. says no lift,tire/wheel sticking out, springs wore out,it is gonna rub.
This is how I ran them.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm saving going to 15's for when I get a lift anyways. The strange thing is - I had a guy at a Jeep dealership say to me once that a 16" steel wheel with 4" BS and 235/70/16 would not cause any rubbing...I didn't believe it at the time and stayed with a stock wheel. Glad I did for the time being...

Is it only a 4" BS that will clear the rotors/calipers?

Think it is more the profile of the rim than the backspacing. There are several 15" that touch the caliper, had a stock XJ wheel that only touched at the butt weld. If it had not been such a pain/costly to swap out I would have gone 16" after seeing how close the soft 8 fit.

Unlifted you're going to have to stay around 5 inches of backspacing
partly due to spring sag but also rubbing issues
As far as what will go over , from past experience even the thickness of the brake pads make a difference .
Buddy had a 92 GMC pickup that i did a lot of work to, lowering /wheels/tires etc . The wheels fit when we installed them with no rubbing what so ever, close mind you but no rubbing
3 months later did a complete brake job and the calipers rubbed like crazy on the wheels, just the extra thickness of the new pads caused them to rub

That's when you put back on the old pads or take a grinder to the new pads.

Dont really do this!!
