I'm considering buying a CRD with 120,000 miles on it.

Is that ridiculously high for a CRD? Any idea how many miles one of these babies will go? I know diesels are pretty wonderful, but hearing some numbers would be fab.

114k and going strong.

Just make sure it has the timing belt replaced, or it should be the first thing on your todo list. Lots of good CRD info over on Lostkjs.com

Thank you for your help, bugnout. Thanks for the heads up on the timing belt! We definitely called to price that process out (we just bought a Jeep Liberty last week with 140,000 miles on it), but being the skeptic (and the girl) in the family, I wanted to ask the pros!

My current one has 91k and I also had one with 149k miles. I couldn't tell the difference and if they are maintained should be able to do over 250k

141K. OME lift, Green Diesel reflash, bigger tires, and it behaves just fine off road, thank you very much.

Just changed the fuel filter heater plug with the repair kit... what a difference!

I guess mine is the old man of the group, it has 135K on it now, and the wife drives it to work daily right now, if only temporarily. It runs like it always did, I drove it to town last night, about ten miles one way to get an ice cream at Dairy Queen. I continue to be impressed with that Jeep, you have to love the engine and the way it always runs the same, day in and day out, it always runs great. I expect to get more than 300K out of mine.

Have 178K on our 2005. Has green diesel tune and gets right around 30-31 mpg. Its been good only major thing has been torque converter. Have some rust showing up on the lower inner door area most apparent on front two doors. Anyone have good advice on an DIY repair for this to stop the rust or at least significantly slow it down?

Thanks,
Max

72,000 on our 2006 with GDE Eco Tune. Runs great, but I've never gotten anywhere near what these folks get as far as fuel economy. I get 17-19 mpg around town (summer, winter 15 - 17) and 24-26 on the highway with the Eco Tune, a bit better without. On the freeway without Eco Tune my best was 27 MPG.

However, I love the power and it pulls like a school boy at any speed. The car itself is a POS but I love the engine. I would never, ever buy one of these with a petrol engine. Why?

New member and CRD KJ owner.

Just recently bought an 2006 with 117,000 miles on it.

There was no documentation of TB/WB being done so we had it done at 118k, and we are now up to 120k.

Planning on GDE Eco Tune eventually, but for now I am running MAF unplugged to disable EGR (and living with check engine light for now).
