Anyone here plow with a KJ?

I'm going to put a Meyer DP-68 on my 02 KJ with a 4.7 v8, it will have diesel springs or be lifted 3" or so

the plow assembly weighs in at 405lbs mounted, is 6'8" moldboard, 22" height, and full angle is only 72" of face on snow.

I currently plow with my 88 MJ with 6'6" Meyer ST poly blade, the plow itself weighs more, plows great, very minimal impact on the truck. Truck is 4.0/5speed 4x4 Metric Ton with 3" springs up front to match it out, air shocks all around, 31.5" tires on icons with dana 44 rear, ax15, np231, dana 30, 3.55 gears.

I'm not asking your opinion on "oh, that's gonna be rough on the vehicle". Yes, it is. but not as rough as you guys who don't plow at all, or only plow commercial think.

The plow will come off when not in use. I do not drive with the plow on my comanche, except maybe to the gas station in the middle of a snowstorm when i've just made a quick pass on the driveway while it's still snowing.

My application is residential, private owner for my own driveway and perhaps a couple of friend's when their normal guys are busy with a huge snow.

This is one of those threads that could get a bit upsetting. Just giving you fair warning, if you don't think it's a good idea to put a plow on one, I would prefer that you don't post at all, because you don't know how I run a plow (not hard like a "pro"), and you probably haven't got any or much experience with a plow anyways. compared to a TJ, these things are tanks.

that's honestly not terribly much heavier than a warn M10 and arb with all the bells and whistles, etc.

It is, but not by much...and I only weigh 175 so i'm no fatty driving this thing. With the v8 and that weight, and a set of diesel springs in it, i bet it will work great

Light Commercial Straight Blade - YouTube

The unit I'm picking up tonight is a $5000 blade for $500. no mounts or wires, jeep got totalled (was on a liberty). Previous owner said it plowed like a dream, didn't weigh down the jeep too much especially since he dismounted when not in use. looks like brand new.

Powered by a Meyer E58H pump. I've rebuilt a few of those, it's a good solid and very fast design, with adjustable drop speed and newer sealed coil design. It can't swell up the C valve (angle valve) when impacting hard because of the design.

Definitely is the way I'd go with a pump on a liberty...not terribly heavy like an E60, but not light duty. That plow will clear snow faster than my 6'6" on the Comanche, and because of the engine cradle/suspension subframe, and the fact that it mounts to that as well as the unibody, energy transferrence will actually be pretty light onto the body of the KJ, compared to the mj. especially since the ground clearance is lower as far as mounting, but still high enough to go over things.

Had to weld L brackets with bolts on here for the push plate. Design flaw with non-existant bolt holes that Meyer insists are there on KJ's

what I had to trim. Meyer offers this setup for 03-07 KJ's. Since there is no difference between 02 and 03 front bumpers, but there is between 02 and 05, I assume they used an 05 to design the mounts.

Where I chose to mount the connector and bracket. Meyer had theirs mounted through the grille...I am not cutting up even more to make this work.

HFP is hands free plowing. It picks up power from the reverse light and, depending on how many times you push the button, will either raise when in reverse, or drop when in reverse. Removes a lot of thinking from the situation

That's pretty cool So could you remove the whole setup if you wanted to? I'm curious to find out how the KJ plows, keeping my fingers crossed for a heavy snow winter!

If you want any of the KJ plow removed, you simply push the down button and hold it until the "float" light lights up blue.

Then walk outside, push the lift arm down the extra difference (less than 1")

Then unplug the electrical connector

Drop the kickstand down in the center

Pull the single lever pin on driver's side, and pull out. done. drive right into it to use it next time.
