So I took the Libby to a Jiffy Lube today for a ****** flush. I told them the specifics for using only ATF+4 fluid. The guy said no problem and they put an additive in the fluid they use in order to make it compliant with specs. I am a skeptic, but I have to believe being a nation wide chain they know what they are doing (even though they always over torque the filter and drain plug). What say all the peeps out there? Is this any good or did I get hosed? I did the same thing at a Juffy Lube about 25k miles ago and also put on a new filter then as well. Have not had any problems and it is at 82,500 miles now.

I'll second the good luck.

Universal fluid + additive pack does not equal ATF+4.

I'll take that as... not good. Guess I will see what happens, again.

Sorry to sound like a *******...if they can't figure out how to properly tighten the drain plug or filter, what makes them qualified to service probably the most fickle system of the vehicle?

I find this pretty funny. Took mine to JL as well yesterday for a ****** flush and oil change. Haha. No problems here. They just said to come back in a few days to make sure the fluid levels are right.

It will take more than 24hrs for to ****** to implode from the wrong fluid.

X2...............

It starts a few weeks later with shuddering when the TC clutch will not lock/unlock correctly which most will not feel. The big issue is ATF+4 is synthetic and jiffy lube uses non-syn DEXIII with a additive and will not handle the higher heat.DEXIII is pretty much junk and will not protect when it get's much above 180 degrees. If you get the trans flushed every 5k-10k you maybe okay for awhile.

I've had two 545RFE's come through the shop wasted due to amsoil ATF also, maybe syn but not the correct fluid for the trans. One had about 7500 miles on the trans and the other had about 20k,both had the warranty denied by Chrysler due to the wrong fluid being used(they did a UOA on the fluid).

We should have a thread with all the right fluid and plug and everything and why use only them...could be a nice sticky and definitely would avoid some surprise for new KJ owner.

Yes and why Chrysler wanked the dipsticks on most of there vehicles starting in '07.

Did Chrysler take legal action or just advise against going to Jiffy Lube? How did my ****** survive the last 25k miles, which was the last time I had my ****** flushed at Jiffy Lube?

No they just wanked the trans dipstick. Some places will actually use the correct fluids, not in all cases though. Some places have poeple like me that refuse to use anything but the correct fluids, when I do a trans flush on a Chrysler I make the service writer get ATF+4 when others at my shop will use Kendall's versatrans since we don't stock ATF+4.Heck we stock DEXVI and Mercon V so why can't we stock the correct Chrysler ATF?

Thanks for the info. So the consensus seems to be have it flushed again at a dealership. Pay $150 or so to save a couple of grand later.
