Hello,

I've done a lot of research on this and I haven't found anything that makes me comfortable moving forward.

I'd like to add an AUX input to my factory '07 RBQ head unit. It has Sirius (apparently), but I do not and will not ever use it. I took the HU out and took pictures, attached.

My best guess is that I can unplug the 10 pin adaptor and use one of the conversion units like this (click). However, when I sent a request to Logjam, they said it wouldn't work with my HU as described. I feel like they just don't know for sure.

Can anyone give me a definitive recommendation?

Barring that (or it even might be a better solution as it would be cheaper), does anyone have experience with splicing into the 10 pin connector? I found this (click) schematic and am tempted to splice into pins 1, 6, and 7, but I'd be more comfortable if someone said "yeah, I did that and it works fine".

Thanks for any help,
Toni

I bought the AUX adapter for my RBQ...would have been cheaper to buy a aftermarket head unit. The one I bought says its for a dodge ram with the RBQ. But it has been working for well over a year

I'm not interested in a new head unit, but I do understand your point about cost. I don't want to lose my steering wheel controls for one thing. I think I'll try splicing into the connector even though nobody has said they've done that.

I have a connector to the cd changer plug in the back that goes into my ipod and i love it, even with all of it's quirks. I stayed with the stock head unit for cost and because I'm not crazy about someone breaking in to steal a fancy one, and if you change your mind in the future, you can always change it!

For anyone reading this in the future: connecting the aux wiring to the new 10 pin connector I bought was a failure. The HU needs to get some kind of signal from the satellite unit or it doesn't even give you the option to select it from the Mode button. I spliced into the 3 wires for the audio input on the existing satellite connector. So now I get rather excellent sound via my aux connected device, but the display still shows whatever Sirius station I have it tuned to.

What did you use to connect the iPad to the 3 wires?

Those work great if you do research and get a good one. The one bad thing was radio static from the gsm cell phone when it does anything. So I did what any sane man would do, I wrapped his head in aluminum foil so they couldn't tamper with his thoughts and it fixed it perfectly.

Splice into the SAT harness, cut the audio wires and solder RCA ends onto both ends. Get a signal switcher and plug it in series with the signal wire and connect your aux source to the open input on the switcher.

Press the SAT button and listen to SAT or flip the switch and listen to your aux source. This will also work with CD changer.

It's kind if a big deal.

I bought this, and it works well.. I put the Jeep radio in a toolbox and used this to connect my ipod to it. It hooks up to the 10 pin connector.

Jeep 2002 Radio Auxiliary Audio Input Adapter Add iPod Zune MP3 Player DVD | eBay

That listing very clearly states: "WILL NOT WORK WITH RBQ RADIOS."

The OP definitely said he has an RBQ radio.

I am having the same problem. There isn't a whole lot of solid information in this post, but after around an hour of poking around the internet, it's still the most helpful :)icon_eek:) post I've found.

So... splicing into the 10 pin harness and using a 1/8" input while you have Sirius selected via the mode button seems to be the ONLY way to add an auxiliary input to the in-dach 6 disc changer factory head unit on my 2006 Liberty. Can anyone confirm?

I don't care if I have to unhook Sirius (I'm not paying for a subscription and the audio quality is atrocious). I just want to be able to hook up my phone, iPod, or other MP3 player.

Thanks.

X2 hard wired is the way to go

What does this mean? I Googled X2 (with various extra words regarding Jeep stereo harness) but I was not able to return results that are helpful.

Earlier in the thread you suggested that you have information on this issue and would post, but then this is your only response.

Why are you holding out on us? :icon_razz:

I'm hoping to find a solution to add auxiliary input to my 2006 Liberty RBQ (6 disc in-dash changer) head unit without having to splice into the 10 pin wiring harness.

Thanks in advance!
