I noticed a big puddle of oil under the Jeep after a 500 mile road trip. Opened the hood and the whole left side was saturated with oil so I reall can't tell where it is coming from. I cleaned it up and will check it after a trip into to town tomorrow, but any help would be appreciated. I thought I read that some hoses should be upgraded at some point, but again some further guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. Oh and happy new year!

Could be a boost hose failure. Is it a lot of oil or not so much? Was your oil level low? If it was the boost hose have you noticed a loss of power or smoking that usually goes with a burst hose?

I would be very careful driving if you loose a lot of oil you could ruin the engine fast

It is only losing about a 1/4 of a quart over 500 miles or so it it not worth the hassel of parking it for now. Where can I get the boost hoses, and are those not something that is recommended to be upgraded anyways? Thanks again for help with this matter.

The boost hose I doubt would cause a noticeable drop in the oil level. There if there is a small split in the hose you my not notice a big loss of power and will need to remove the hose and examine it.

Replacement hoses can be gotten at a dealer or mopar parts America if you want the upgraded OEM or boost controller has the samco sport hoses. They are supported to be the best but cost more and u must by them as a set

I think you may have another issue. The boost hoses only carry the oil the ccv let's by and that's not so much unless you have the engine over filled.

You should look or post in the crd section on lost jeeps. There are more people with vast knowledge on the crd there and th forum is more active than the crd section here.

That makes good sense, if the OP is filling his engine to the full mark, and the stick is marked wrong like all our CRDs he could be leaking through the boost hoses from the CCV.

Yea I think that is exactly what i have going on. It seems to be worse when I "top it back off", like I did this morning before I headed 130 miles back from Birmingham. I got a set of hoses on order just a few minutes ago and a MAP sensor for a fresh start and I will clean the other for a spare. Thanks again for everybody's help I will keep you all posted.

Oh and more importantly, what should I be filling the dipstick up to?

About a 1/4" to 3/8" below the full mark. Next time you do an oil change, add the exact amount of new oil and you will know where it should be.

What is a boost hose?

The two "boost" hoses are basically the the two thick black CAC hoses...one runs from the output of the turbo to the intercooler up front and the other hose runs from the intercooler back to the inlet manifold.

The original hoses are prone to fail...mainly from the oil that ends up in them and then the hoses split or burst which causes a sudden massive loss of power.

Most CRD owners switch to SAMCO silicone hoses which last longer and come in various colors.
