I LOVE the Prius and all other little hybrids; I think everyone else should drive one.
I'm all for gas sippers, econo-bombers, public transport, and even militant bicyclists.

They are less competition for the gas my KJ needs:gr_grin:

When I saw Prius I thought of my EX-Boss
He grew up with pickups/Jeeps etc and drove them for years........then moved to the city and started dating a woman who wanted him to be environmentally responsible.
So he bought a Prius. 2 months later it snowed about 2 inches. Called me really ah shall we say upset. Hung up at the grocery store, level ground, ..............had to get a tow from a Jeep

The funny thing about a prius is how enviromentally un-friendly they actually are. The process of procuring parts and assembly involves container ship transport back and forth all over the world. The mining process to get those "clean operating" batterys is really terrible for the local enviroment. The list goes on and on. So in reality, if you buy a prius, by the time it gets to the show room its already caused close to the same amount of pollution as he life of two gasoline engine cars. Vegans and enviromentalist are actually really bad for the enviroment. They dont eat meat and a cow farts out more harmful gasses in its life then the biggest most thirsty vehicle out there. So if you want to save our wonderful planet, get in your big ass V8 and go to a mcdonalds drive through and get yourself a few big macs! Lol

Yup! There was actually an article a while back which claimed the Wrangler is actually the greenest vehicle available. As you mentioned the process for making a car like a Prius is awful for the environment...then on top of that, most of the parts cannot be recycled. A jeep on the other hand is old technology, easy and to produce with far less energy. And it can be made almost 100% from recycled materials, and when it's life is over, can again be almost completely recycled. Especially older models that had less plastic parts.

Bottom line... Prius=the devil :icon_twisted:
and back on topic...I can't wait to get my Duratracs!

I have to say .. I have been very impressed. With only RWD until I get my new half shafts in they have been great in 1ft + snow and hard packed country roads.

Actually a under-powered cheap FWD car is a great snow car. Preferably with an automatic. Taller gear ratios, weak front sway bar, no rear sway bar & skinny tires are perfect for snow. Ground clearance would be the only problem. My 1st new car was a bare bones 1.4 liter 1979 Dodge Colt hatchback. I felt like I could have pushed a plow with that thing.

I second this, and that's why I hate the prius and the so called "environmentalists" who rave about them because they just don't or don't want to know what kind of environmental damage they actually cause. I guess it's just hotdogs and sausage, you don't want to know how they're made.

I´m a bit annoyed I haven´t had any snow here yet to have fun with them. I love them so far and the slight howl when you get up to speed is nice.:favorites13:
