If you really want hid retrofit the proper projectors for it or add auxiliary hid lights with the proper housing.

What code gets thrown?

Glad you are in Pa , that way I won't have you coming down the road at me with the HIDs
Sorry they're not legal no matter what, there is no way to aim them that they don't blind on coming traffic

Yep. Down here, it's pretty much a war of the lights. People regularly drive with their brights on and it's annoying as hell, too. You flick your high beams at them to let them know that they are blinding you and they don't flinch.

However, having 4 100w Hella Rallye HID spreadbeams and 2 100w Lightforce 240 Blitz HID spots, well, let's just say that my methods of persuasion leave these inconsiderate types ...blinded by the light. :buttkick:

That being said, if I were back in the states, I would never have HIDs.

Yeah I've got over 22,000 lumens of LED's(24 ten watt LED's) that make anyone thing twice about keeping there brights on coming at me.They blind you in the daylight and 10 times worse at night.

There is only one way to properly install HID lights into a clear lens composite housing, HID Projector reto-fit BI-XENON system. it is not cheap, it is not easy to do, but it is the ONLY correct way to do this. I was going to do this once I got settled in here in Texas but I have decided to go the LED route now. I currently have 2 choices to go with but I still am not decided.

1. Truck Lite LED are used by the US military https://www.truck-lite.com/webapp/w...10001&storeId=10001&productId=55019&langId=-1

2. Speaker Lighting LED Headlights - Other - J.W. Speaker Corporation

A possible retro-fit with true Bi-Xenon output(shutter system) and DOT legal. http://www.brightheadlights-hid.com/Headlights-x6024.htm

I have to Disagree...

The set I have...Duel Xenon Hid in Headlights and Regular HID in fogs......I aimed them and get great light output, and dont blind anyone.

The balast I use in my 2003 have never given me any codes, and I have sold about 6 sets to other users and they have no problems.

As far a legality....I have a few cop friends here in town...one a State Trooper....and they all stated they are not illegal, as long as you aim then correctly.

I will agree the factory reflectors are not optimal for use with HID bulbs, but they are still far better running HID than stock Halogens.

Anyone interested in the HID systems that we use here at the shop, and me personally, send me a PM and I'll let ya know pricing.

PS...our supplier gives us lifetime warranty on the bulbs as well.

OK I'll disagree as well
But run em and blind everyone
I have 8 extra lights to turn on when I see ya coming down the road

:happy160:
read up on danielsternlighting
very in"light"ning to say the least
and no matter what your cop friends say they are
You do know that most cops do not know the laws by heart :hunter:

This issue is much easier than you are all making it out to be. It is all about measurements, the housings are measured for a certain bulb configuration, HID bulbs are outside of those parameters, there for will not work as designed in the headlamp housing.

You can hook up and garden hose to a fire truck but the firetruck will not pump water in the way it was designed.

Another good reference in the different light source location of haloge vs xenon bulbs

A quick video with graphics to exlplain it. You do not have to have a degree to understand this.

You can't aim HID's correctly in a halogen housing,it is impossible by the laws of physics.

Tell your cop friends to look up FMVSS No. 108,that is the ground rules for automotive lighting and whiuch makes HID bulbs in a halogen housing illegal. And by that even modifying the halogen housing for progectors is still techincally illegal. All HID kits you buy for $30 off ebay are sold as "offroad only" and none carray a DOT stamp which makes them illegal for street use.

WOW!!!!!!

Let me rephrase...

THEY WILL WORK....just not 100% Properly

And yes you guys are correct in a way.....they can't be aimed PROPERLY.

By properly I mean they are not going down the road as far as a headlight system desing for them such as a projector Bean HID system.

But at the same time, they will give you better light quality...ie a cleaner light without the dull yellow tint.

But i defy you to come down the road at me and say your blinded....you won't be.

And if you want to talk rules and regulations....in almost every state that has vehicle inspections......if you look...things like your exhaust system....put on anything that isn't OEM parts, and it's illegal.
WV law for example says "only original manufacture exhaust system is allowed."

So come on guys really lets not be splitting hairs here...they will work....no your right not 100% properly, but they will "work", and can be aimed down so as not to blind someone.

But you actually get less light where you need it since it scatters it everywhere
and no it is not whiter just your brain playing tricks on your eyes.
You yourself say you have to aim it lower so what is the point of having them, ?? None what so ever, has been proven many times over.
