Hello all,

I've been working on making the perfect sound system for my Kj.

What I want to do is mount a second set of coaxials in the front doors right above the stock hole. Has anyone done this and could they tell me how they did it?

I plan on just cutting into the metal and simply screwing the speaker right in and to be powered by an amp. and of course I'd make a hole in the door panel and use the speaker grill to give it a good finished look.

Is there room in the door to do this and would i be ok and not hit anything like the window motor etc?

I have taken apart the door a few times and I think it would be hard to put a speaker right above the old one. There might be enough space with metal but the power window motor is close.

Why would you add a second speaker? Are you talking about a small sub or another tweeter? I dont see the point of adding a second midrange speaker.

Good sound is about quality not quantity
I would bet that if you spend the same on a good
pair of speakers that fit the factory location it will
sound better than the 2 cheeper pairs

While on the topic of audio, can one replace the stock "tweeters" (small speakers... :disgust:) with a different set of tweeters without replacing the components/stock amp crossover thing?

Yes, just replace the front speaker/tweeter with a good set of components. I've replaced mine and it sounds wonderful. I've got an indepth thread from a couple years ago.

Sorry I think either I'm not really understanding or I phrased my question incorrectly. I want to keep the stock components, and just replace the tweeters. Is that A-OK and plug-n-play? (RHYMING!)

as long as the tweeter has a crossover so it doesnt get the low frequencies

Exactly. A mid range speaker with a tweeter and a cross over is called a component. Link I posted shows all of that.

Yeah I knew that. Was wondering if I could get away with only replacing the tweeter and keeping the stock mid-range woofer and the stock "amp" in the door. The wiring on these suckers just doesn't seem that straight forward to me... >.>

Sure, you'll have no issues doing that. You will most likely (well, guaranteed) have to cut the plug off of the stock tweeter wiring and splice/solder in the new tweeter.

And I have no problem doing that! :) Just hope I don't lose quality!

Thanks again for the info!!
