Been absent from the site for a bit. One of the topics I had been following was the "front rcvr hitch" thread. I put my project on hiatus till this past week. I had all the parts cut sometime back, then just sat them on the shelf. Got a wild hair going and got it finished and hung.

I went the double route. Only had to open up the factory exit areas and trim the lower air dam to clear the hanger brackets. There are some heavy duty nut plates inside the frame rails. Using the original two forward mount points and an other point 8 inches further back. The frame rail is sandwiched between the hangers and nut plates. The cross tube goes thru the rcvr tubes and the hangers. I opted for the no "butt-weld" assembly. Pure overkill by my buddies declaration.

some pics to follow shortly

One recurring question from my most of my friends. "What are you gonna hang up front?"

My answer: Whatever I want to.

Three attachments are on the drawing board tho. A dedicated push bar, a stinger style light bar and a winch mount.

I'm Looking to doing a project like this. I am going to buy a small welder and some receiver tubes. Not sure how long a tube I need on each side. I want to put a "D" ring in each one.

I'm doing something similar, however my receiver tubes won't stick out that far.

I'm having two 6in tubes welded to my stock tow hook mounting brackets, and then putting on some d-ring hitches.

Looks great, Elmer!

May want to consider doing a complete How-To so others can do something similar (like me! :happy160: )

Thanks man. And that's a great idea. I'll throw one together tomorrow.

Did you just weld the 2" hitch piece onto the same factory tow hook piece? Would you care to do a couple more for me?

Thanks!

Yep, just had the 6 inch hitch receiver tubes (2") welded to the factory tow hook mounting plates. If I knew how to weld, I'd definitely fab some up for ya, but unfortunately I haven't acquired the skill of welding... yet :D

I just took the receiver tubes and the mounting plates to a local welder and they did the job for $30. They did a great job too. Well worth the money.
