Howdy all,

I just bought a Cherokee 3.7 v6 limited / 50.000 mls (I live in EU).
I therefore am very happy to have found this forum since I am new to Jeeps.

The car is still sitting on some horrible aftermarket wheels with 255/55/18 road tires.
I am wondering whether this car had a lift to accomodate this size or does 255/55/18 fit under a non-lifted car without rubbing to start with?

My plan would be fitting an AT tyre in 245/70/16 (BFG/General/Cooper or similar)
Will this fit without rubbing, asuming it is still a non-lifted car?

Thanks for the input!

Maybe I should rephrase it: will 255/55/18 road tires fit a Liberty/Cherokee when it hasn't been lifted?

To answer your second question, you will need at least a 1.5" lift and longer bumpstops with 245/70R16 tires.

I have no idea why you have 18" wheels on that JEEP. I've never seen a JEEP Liberty with 18" wheels. Most people use 16" wheels on their JEEP. Some use 17" JEEP wheels. But 18" doesn't seem common on the JEEP KJ.

Totally agree, I don't like 18"s either, it looks silly as you can see in the picture.
That's why I want to get some 245/70/16 with AT tires instead but it seems even that is critical?
Will I be okay, asuming it isn't lifted, with 235/70/16 AT tires?

I think the wheels are a nice looking style but they are too big and the tires too low profile to look proper for a real Jeep owners Jeep. Now if you are the type that puts in a big loud Stereo with huge speakers and mega bass to go drive around and collect your welfare, WIC checks and food stamps while enjoying gangster rap then its all you.

245/70R16 will fit not lifted. I have had that size on my 2006 CRD since 41,000 miles. Now it will rub maybe a little. mine has hardly ever until about 70,000 when things started to sag more. I need a lift now

My skin too light to be associated with gangster rap....
Although I will use the car mostly as a daily (highway) driver I do consider buying an AT tire.
Any pointers on which brands/types would suit 90% highway/10% light off-road use?
