For nationally organized events (ie: East Coast Safari - ECS, Pastafari, etc), most people don't even care if there's raffles or product or anything. For most of us, the trip and the meeting of other like-minded people in KJ's is enough. I don't see that contact with vendors is necessary, unless it's something you really want to try to do.

In terms of dates, for us, anytime mid-June and later works best. My spring is taken up by dance-related activities/performances, and Aaron's rally is the first full week in June, followed by a couple of days after for the return home.

We just thought it would be kind of cool to get some recognition in a nationally publicated monthly Rag is all!
Make more people aware that we too own real Jeeps!
Just like when the XJ first came out and the frame on body Jeep owners said it wasn't a "Real Jeep"
We are now the modern day owners of the Newest Cherokee!
That's why it wasn't called a Cherokee in North America IMHO!
Real Jeeps cannot have Independant from suspension!

On that note, I can fly down a rough poorly graded mountain road at 100+ KMH/63+ MPH in our KJ in full control!
I have yet to see an XJ or Wrangler in our group of 4X4 buddies do that unless there is a professional driver behind the steering wheel!
Supper great off road but they suck as far as true holding vehicles and sure are nowhere near as comfortable on a road like that compared to a Liberty!

OK, rant over;)

Cheers
Ry'

I have no prob with you trying to get a Mag there, but it's not important to me...don't beat yourself up over it anyway. Spend some time finding some good pizza places online. Or someplace with cheese curds.

I just thought it would be kind of cool to get some media exposure...
I've got OCD and like to do things to access!;)
But I am getting the feeling that just the get together really is the most important part of this trip so Jen and I will concentrate on things to do as a
group activity.
Like as you say HJ, places to eat, drink and be merry!
Cheese curds Eh?:)
Ok, we will do that HJ!

I'll scale it down to a more humble get together...

An idea for the raffle...
Have everyone bring some small item that kinda represents where they are from, or an inexpensive Jeep gadget or farkle. Then throw them all into a "blind" auction or casual raffle to help cover the costs of camping/lodging/food/etc.

And as for media coverage...
Instead of trying to coordinate with a magazine beforehand. We could just take alot of pics, and consolidate some sort of article to submit to a rag after the event. If some mag picks it up, that's great; but if not, oh well..

Four weeks vacation? You should attend Pastafari... then you'll be a serious enthusiast.

Eight months until we leave for our month long trip across the U.S.A.

Jen and I thought we'd bump this topic up to keep it in fresh in the minds
of all the members here and for any new members who haven't seen this topic!

Before you know it those eight months will be over and June 2013
will be upon us.

We are really curious as too how many members will join in!

Cheers

Without going through the whole thread again, was there a date range decided on?

I have a PCS (permanent change of station) to Korea around that time with 30 days of leave. Here's hoping that things coincide and I might be able to roadtrip.
