I just lit up my cel and I'm 99% sure it's the egr again. What scan tools are you guys using? I've never even used one and don't want the Chrysler big buck $$$ job!
Last time I went about 30k miles on the bead blast job. Been doing a lot of heavy low speed inner city towing latly that's why I think it's the egr. Also have some high altitude crawling in Colo. that puckyed it up. Got a cel up there last Aug but blew it out, thanks, Alan

I use an Innova 3100. It is an older one and won't read abs codes but works ok otherwise and gives codes/descriptions. I think it was around $100 or so. Not a professional one by any means but ok for me.

Real good ones are $$$$$$$$ and you need to be a professional to justify it.

What year model is your KJ?

Bear in mind that up to about 2004 they use a PCI bus for communications, the years after that they use a CAN bus for communications. I presume yours will be a later model since it is a CRD....easier to get readers to read the codes.

Check Amazon for OBDII readers - there's a range at a variety of prices. Not all are guaranteed to work with our vehicle, but most should.

Autel MaxiTrip 100 does the job well for my CRD. Purchased via eBay (UK), but widely available worldwide.

There's a pretty detailed thread on the forum in respect of long-term tests and real worls trials of the MaxiTrip - check it out, it's excellent (as is the scanner).

Thanks for the responses. It's the 05' CRD and yesterday Advance tried to read it with what looked like a lower caliber Actron. It wasn't specific but did mention the MAF. I'm getting ready to take it on it's 800 mi. one way voyage home to Az. and need a specific reading so I guess I have to dump the 65 bucks at Ancira Jeep. I don't have the time at present to mess with the egr again but don't want to chance a long pulling drive with the cel either. Time is critical for me right now. Thanks Alan:freak3:
