My daughter recently wrecked one of our 3 liberty's. :Frustrated:
Anyhow, im hoping to keep the thing and collect the insurance. Im certain they will salvage it, however its still driveable so my questions is has anyone gone through this?

Say they say its worth 10 grand and want to pay me 10 for it. If i ask them if i can have 8500 and keep the jeep will they say im crazy or has anyone ever heard of this? If so im going to strip it down completely and sell the parts to make a little extra cash. Might as well put the lift and power tools to good use and maybe give me some spending money that i can throw at my Liberty without having to hear it from the breadwinner in my house! :whymewhyme:

if anyones heard of this or knows what they would take for a salvaged liberty let me know! would i be crazy to try to get it for a grand?

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
People buy back totaled vehicles all the time from the insurance company. The price will vary and from what I've paid and others that I've known that have paid have been between $50-$1000 to buy it back.Sometimes they will not let you buy it back, depends on your insurance company.

If they value your KJ at $10k,you will not get $10k for it.They will minus your deductable and that is what you will get paid.

ive got pics somewhere.... she got hit in front left went under the back of a pickup. not alot of damage to the car, except the undercarriage and hood. but airbag steering column and all that is toast. On a side note found out today that they are offering me a good amount and will allow me to keep the jeep to rebuild or use for parts for a pretty good price :). Wont find out till monday morning though if im allowed for sure!

Unless the insurance carrier is the lender for a finance vehicle, there is no "allow" to it.

Simply, a vehicle owner and the carrier must come to an agreement or negotiate to a different amount / outcome. The vehicle ownership is of course the major part of the negotiation.
