Has anybody ever Reinforced their tow hooks on the front? To me they seem rather weak. I was just wondering what all of y'all thought about this. I have put them to use before pulling people out but I've always wondered if they were actually strong enough to with hold against a good yanking from another vehicle or me pulling on a rather larger vehicle?

They should be pretty stong, not sure on the exact number, but you want to use both loops of the recovery strap in both of the towhooks at the same time. Using one at a time can damage them, and put uneven stress on the frame. Just wondering, why do you think they are inadequate? Mine are very solid.

They seem solid to me. I have been pulled out of the mud a couple of times with no issues.

Anything can be torn off if you "yank" on it hard enough
Knowing the right way to recover a vehicle goes a long ways in how your vehicle holds up.
The tow points are strong enough given that the person uses a little common sense in extracting someone else or vice-versa

When I installed mine one of my "m-bolts" actually snapped, I think maybe the front one was torqued more than the other. One of these days I will take the bumper off and just use some nice nuts, bolts, and washers and replace the m-bolts. I won't use them till I do this.

Am I missing something here?
The hooks are strong enough to hang the KJ
from how on earth would you damage or
pull one off?
I refuse to "yank" or "snatch" any one from any thing
from any "open" hook
They simply are not built for that

you could replace the M bolt with 1/8 or 1/4 plate and bolts, but it would only be marginally better...
the brackets do seem a little thin...

The factory installed hooks do not have m bolts from my understanding. Atleast the ones I bought which came off of another kj installed from the factory. They also require taking the front bumper off to put on.

Well my concern was that i recently pulled out a stuck excursion V10 on some 33's up to both axles buried in some thick clay mud and I only used one hook to do it since we only had one strap. I just looked under my jeep to see everything was fine and i noticed they are connected by three bolts to what seems some rather thin metal. And also the other tow hook I'm glad i didn't use was missing a bolt (Thanks to the Jeep stealership that did front end work on it) and to me they just look rather weak.
