i am on my third water pump and it seems to be leaking out of the weep hole again. its been little over 6 months since i had it changed. i also had all the hoses replaced at that time.

is there anything else such as sucking air somewhere in the system that would make the water pump weep?(starting to sound like a bad nursery rhyme).

...just hit 220,000 miles.

Okay so a independant shop installed the WP.That means they used the cheapest pump and most likely got it from advance auto or autozone that is up the street from them. And I know for a fact they have been using the wrong coolant as no shops carry or stock HOAT coolant besides the dealership.Had more issues with aftermarket pumps then I care to count but we still use them at work and loose money replacing them 2-3 times before we loose big money by actually installing a OEM pump which should have been done from the start.

If you do not have HD cooling(mechanical fan) it takes 20mins to change the waterpump on the 3.7,it's really that simple and no gasket(uses a giant o-ring).I would demand your money back for the repair and use that money to buy a OEM pump from the dealer and pick up some HOAT coolant while your there(or Zerex GO5 found a Napa). Then install in your driveway.

ah... thanks for the feedback and info!

does it make any sense in just changing out the gigante o ring even if the pump is still "good?"

If you can find out who the OEM supplier for KJ water pumps is, you'll save a bundle by buying the pump in their own-brand packaging rather than in a Mopar box. It'll be the exact same pump, just in different packaging and at a much cheaper price.

You might want to check the coolant reservoir cap. It regulates pressure in the cooling system. If the cap is either the wrong one, or for some other reason is allowing the system to get too pressurized then maybe that could explain why your pumps keep leaking again and again.

It might not be the problem, but it's something to consider. I believe you can get the cap tested, or just buy a replacement. Don't just buy one of the same pressure rating without verifying that it is correct. Look it up.

very easy swap. I just did it yesterday. took me maybe an hour from pulling in the garage to pulling out. was my first and i did a lot of talking to my buddies. LOL.

remove lower hose to drain
remove belt
remove idler pulley
remove 8 bolts holding WP in.

reverse to install.

Most pumps come with a new O-ring. The O-RING on the WP is a compression type and my guess is that once used and then removed, it should be replaced.

my thought was if only the o ring was at fault and the water pump was still functional, could i just replace the o ring while using current water pump. am going to attempt this weekend.

i ll also check the reservoir cap as well. is it suppose to create a vacuum when the cap is closed? i cant remember if there was some suction or if there is suppose be a little resistance when removing the cap.

thanks all for the feedback.
