I put the order in on a new programmer today. Talked to the tuner tech this morning, told him my current mods, and i should be able to tell a significant boost in power. I'm pretty excited right now! edit, i put a yawn face. didn't mean to. i went with the hyper tech max energy. i will let everyone know how it feels when I've had a day to assess it

been driving on it for three days now. Heres a beginning disclaimer that probably doesn't need to be stated, but I will for the sake of my argument.

The Jeep Liberty is not a hot rod, and the 3.7L is not an LS1.

That being said, it took close to a full second off my 0-60 time, a punch from 30-50 will grab you by the seat of your pants, from a dig it has more over all power, and my E-fan now cuts on at 180º F. :) It has noticeably more power through the low end, but most importantly, it greatly improves the passing gear. If you're running bigger tires on a KK, this lets you have cruise control back! :badger_1:

Shifts firmer, and more smoothly, idles nicer, and ironically it actually SOUNDS like it runs smoother.

I have a k&n 63 series CAI mated with it, while the hypertech just reads whats coming from the MAF, i will say the engine sounds much throatier than it did. (before the tune, you could already hear the intake.)

I haven't tried a Jet chip yet, I would personally steer clear of the module, it plugs into the ecu and the computer could just relearn all the settings anyway. Get a flash tuner or programmer.

One downside I have, is the inability to change shift points. I tuned my dad's 08 silverado 4.8, and adjusted each gear individually, and it was an incredible difference. that truck pulls like a bat out of hell in every gear. AND it has 6 inches of lift, 33's, and a 3.31 rear end. In the jeep, from 1 > 2 gear and from 2 > 3 could really use a shift point adjustment.

Overall, I give Hypertech an 8 out of 10. I ordered from amazon for 315 shipped over night to my door. If necessary, I'll write a full install and review, with pictures and video to match, and we could sticky it. It's basically a no brainer install though. Took all of 10 minutes, and I was out enjoying it.

TL;DR - Bought hypertech programmer, love it.

Pros: Regular octane tune claims 24hp/24tq. real world claim, you can feel the power. Runs smoother, more efficient, better shifting, lower fan temperature threshold.

Cons: Can't change shift points.

Overall: Worth the money.

sounds good. but why the efan at 180? won't it be running all the time?

for now yes. i leave it like that when i know i will be using the truck for extended periods of time. otherwise you can set it to 195ºF, but honestly that isn't too far off of 180. i'll keep it to 195 when under regular use

locked to the vin of the last vehicle it tuned. it wouldn't probably do anything if you plugged it into another vehicle when its tune was already applied elsewhere. i haven't tried though, i don't know anyone who owns a KK/KJ

Update, I drove from beaumont to bryan, TX, then to austin, then back to bryan, and then from bryan back to beaumont. It looks like I'm getting about 23-24 mpg after averaging 4 tanks. i was getting between 19-20 highway mpg before, so FWIW i seemed to have gained roughly 3 mpg

if you lived close by I'd pay you $50 to program mine! I might have to get one of those. Besides, it would be fun!

hypertech locks the vin to each vehicle so you can only use the programmer once, which stinks. I'm not sure if they support the KJ either, which also stinks. It didn't make my jeep a hot rod but it gave it enough all around power, plus increased efficiency enough to make me want to keep it. i wonder what people use for the KJ?

Sorry to post on an old thread, hopefully you're still watching it. I have a question about the warranty. Does the reprogrammer void the factory warranty? I've been thinking of doing the same thing after I get a few other mods out of the way.

i would imagine if the dealership saw the tune on the truck they would have something to say. i always flash it back to stock when i bring it in for work. my factory warranty is dried up though

we dont have much for the kj. i have an 04 3.7 auto limited with the b&g engine tune and i honestly couldnt tell a difference between it and stock. i didnt expect much but to not "feel" a change is disappointing. they claim better gas mileage too but i still get the same 18.4 acutal mpgs vs the computer lieing 20.4 lol. not sure what the stock shift points are but mine shifts a little before 6k and i think the tune is suppose to change shift points. all in all a waste of money for the b&g.

Wow, I might look into it now since I do a lot of hwy driving and have oversized tires. Do you have a link for this and how much did the set up run? I'm interested in the MPG more than anything.

definitely recommend it, i have a little bit more done to my KK than just a tune, but the tune would be a great start for you.

I ordered my programmer here (http://www.amazon.com/Hypertech-520...SC34/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325966453&sr=8-1)

When i was reading on amazon, it didn't show compatibility for my liberty. However, reading up on it through hypertech, calling the company, and verifying on other forums and sites, i found that it was 100% compatible with the Liberty. You will need a Windows based PC (i have a mac, so that part sucked) and you will have to update the tuner when it comes in with the supplied cables/discs. Its completely normal, all that means is you are basically loading the latest tunes for your KK.

Amazon shipped mine next day delivery for i think 350, which to me was a good deal
