I am new to lifting and I have scanned these threads for hours searching different ones and I have decided on this one from JBA, http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-OME_1_50__lift_kit-634.aspx

My question is, is there anything else I need besides what comes in this kit? I hear a lot of talk about clevis, spacers, bump stops, and I know a lot about working on vehicles (used to do it for a living) but lifting seems quite foreign to me. Any advice would be much appreciated! thanks guys

OK first go with the 927 front springs and 948 rear springs
fronts heavy duty and rear are called medium duty
also make sure you get the 132L rear shocks these are longer for the lift
Call Marlin and he'll walk you through it

**Now if you want more lift than what the springs give you( more than 1.5 inches by the way) then you can use a 3/8 inch clevis lift for 3/4 inch more lift in front or a 1/4 inch top plate for 1/2 inch more lift
If you do that then you'll need one or two extra upper isolators per side in the rear

Now on to bumpstops, OME claims you do not have to use bumpstops with their shocks, but most do for the extra insurance of not bottoming out when fully flexed or fear of tearing your flares off

That should either
A confuse you more
or
B make it clear as mud
either way TONS of info on here and LOSTJEEPS on lifts etc

Just to add to the OPs possible confusion (or mine as the case may be):

From what I understand the regular shocks were designed for the 1.5" lift and the long shocks for a 2-1/2". The Ls have a longer down travel but a shorter up travel and must be used with extended bump-stops regardless of lift height.

So I probably shouldn't get the long shocks for the kit I'm looking at?

If you're going to do spacer/clevis and extra isos then yes, follow Tom's directions, get the long shocks and do the extended bumpstops.

BTW I've only done 1 lift, Tom has done dozens.

If you are going to do the top plates only in front , you'll need to install one extra upper isolator per side
if you do top plates and 3/8 inch clevis lift then you do 2 extra per side
rear bumpstops consist of two hockey pucks per side bolted to the spring perch

You guys literally mean hockey pucks haha. I was thinking it was a nickname for something! Are there any precautions needed in the front as far as bump stop kind of things?
