I just bought 4 225/75/16 GY wrangler authority from wal-mart for $456.44 mounted, balanced. I did not get the road hazard for $40 more. I have 30 days to get it if i want. What do you do?

I don't but over the years I've heard from several people that it saved them the cost of a new tire.

I've only had a few flats in my life and they were all from something puncturing the tire in a patchable/plugable area. I've used a tire plug as a permanent fix and for one slow leak that I couldn't figure out (it was a small piece of wire) the tire shop patched it for something like $20 (been a while, don't remember exactly).

But then again, $40 for peace of mind isn't a bad deal.

Check out GY's guarantee on those tires ... my Silent Armors came with on and off road emergency assistance etc etc ... I was amazed.

You may already have what you are looking for right from the manufacturer.

Cheers,

Edit ... I read it over again .. it's good, but no puncture protection. Couldn't find anything on the Authority(s) though.

Normally I would say no to "extended" warranties
However in this case you are dealing with walmart
Not a G/Y service center where there will be at
least 1 person with some experience with tires
So yeah buy it
The reason is simple
Those tires are made for Walmart and only sold through
Walmart G/Y service can not help you
Even on tread wear

"Real" G/Y tires have a fairly good backing
And if the tire is damaged due to craftsmanship
Their tread wear will kick in
We had a 40% worn MTR replaced when a belt broke
Total cost for a new tire ,not another MTR, was about
$40
I doubt you can get that service from Walmart

Thanks i'll check it out, I doubt the authoritys would be covered since they are made exclusively for wal-mart and dont even show up on GY's web site. These tires were only $98 each on clearance they wont sell this size in the authority so if something happens to one tire and it cant be fixed they would cover the cost of that tire then pro rate the other 3.

Slightly North of the 49° th. Parallel... In HongC
How can you go wrong for $40.00 for a Nation wide road hazard warranty?
BTW, even though those tires are made exclusively for WalMart... They say "Goodyear" on the side and they will have some sort of warranty through Goodyear due to the fact that their name is on it...

Yeah they will have a tread wear
warranty but you will have to go
to Walmart to have it honored
And if it is a tread wear issue finding
Some one at Walmart that knows how
To measure tread depth and figure out
The % of use
Good luck with that adventure ,at least in
My part of the world

It depends on where you drive if it is worth it. On my five BFG ATKOs all five have at least two patches per tire. Each time I get a nail or bolt puncture but that is how Vegas is. Have yet to puncture on a cactus or brush and I have hit some..."wild" trails while chasing game or on my way to pick up game.
