Treadwrights??

I don't think there was much of a weight difference between the tires I had and the ones I have now. There has been no difference in MPG, it still ***** :D

I had some new BFG ATs and some Treadwright with the BFG AT tread on BFG casings, lot of difference in weight you could really tell the difference picking them up

I may go with the BFG tread. How were those for you? I know I won't be totally successful, but I'm going for a good all round tire that sees 50/50 street/trails. Thanks, this is all good info.

I have the Guard dogs on my ride and love them. I did see a slight increase in mileage, but I thought that was due to me going from mudrovers to a more closed tread tire. I am going to try them out on the dunes in the next few weeks and see how they do. I am worried about airing them down, but like its been said before a lot of people run these tires and have no problems. I know first hand that if there is any problem with a tire they will replace it. (had the tread coming of the casing). Simple email of a pic and new tire was in the mail.

Customer service is top notch, answered all my questions. I think milage wise if you go with the special tire compound they have (key grip, i believe its called) they even admitt that the overall milage the tire will get will suffer.

I've had the Guard Dogs for a couple of months now. They are loud, you can almost tell how fast you are going by the volume of the hum. They are pretty solid, though. They are 245/75/16, but measured out about an inch larger than my old AT's. We just got back from a road trip out to Montana and the tires performed quite well. We put on over 4K miles this trip. They did well on wet pavement and hail covered pavement. I haven't been off-road yet, but I don't anticipate any problems.

I just received my 245/75/16 Treadwright wardens(bfg AT style) on AT KO carcasses. I have not driven on them yet as I have some trimming to do on my front wheelwells and the pinch welds, but they look nice. As others have said, they are heavy as hell.

Well, I got them on the Jeep. I have more trimming to do as the tires rub backing up still. I hurried and took a picture before the rain started pouring down, so sorry for the bluriness.

I have been running the Guard Dogs for about five-six months now in the 245/75/16; so about 5000 miles. I really like them. I had the GY MT/R's as my previous set of tires and they did well off-road except they chunked horribly. They lasted about 13,000 miles before they were chunked so bad they couldn't be balanced. The TW's are holding up much better. No chunking in the rocks, and they have been wearing nice and even on the street. They are also noticeably quieter on the street; the tread pattern seems to be a little more compressed compared to real MT/R's. They have been awesome off-road as far as traction and I air them down to 15psi and have had no problems. When I called an ordered mine, they said they only use the GY MT/R casings; I don't know if that is just for this tread pattern or all their tires. Their customer service was awesome too. If these tires continue to perform and wear like they have been, I will absolutely be buying a new set of TW's when these give up the ghost.

Thought I would bump this. It has been over a year since this post and my TW Guard Dog's are still going strong 25,000 miles later; roughly 30,000 miles total. I would guesstimate they are at about 50% tread right now. Tires have started to chunk a bit over the past couple months but still acceptable considering. They need to be religiously rotated or they will start to wear funny (but so do all aggressive style tires). I have been pretty good with keeping up with that and they have worn pretty well. They have gotten noticeably louder after awhile. Not as bad as my old MT/R's but louder than most would probably consider acceptable; it doesn't bother me much though.

I have, after 1 1/2 years of ownership, found my first real complaint, and that is big chain tire stores will not touch these tires. I have developed a slow leak in one of my tires (lose about 5 psi a day) and no one would inspect or fix the leak. The mexican Llanteria down the street had no problem plugging the tire (nail between tread), but Discount Tire, Big-O, and Firestone wouldn't touch it.

So, in summation, my TreadWright experience has been worthwhile. They have been a good set of tires for a very reasonable price. I plan on buying another set when these wear down a little more; maybe in another 10-15K miles. I would recommend them to anybody who can find the size they need from TW. Just don't expect any help from your local tire shop.

Definitely worth the money. For mounting I used a fellow that has an independent shop.

They have gotten louder over the months - but they are mud tires, so what do you expect. As mentioned before, regular rotation is crucial to keep them wearing evenly. I'll have to check the receipt from the oil change a couple of weeks ago, they measured the tread depth. I'll update this post tomorrow.

I've had my gard-dog m/ts in the 265/75X16 size on my 06 liberty for a year now in new England we have some seriously nasty trails I've run them at 8-10 psi. And have used them on my stock rims. 20,000miles and still going strong, no problems at 80+ mph.
I have to ad it only to 6 to 8 oz to balance and they come with a balance garinty to be under 12oz I think, if I were you I would call them and talk to them they have amazing customer service. You can't go wrong even if you just try them once.

Have any of the Canadians on here bought Treadwrights? If so how did it go with shipping/duty/taxes, did you get it from behind? :D

If no Canucks chime in here, I would just give them a call. The ladies in the office are super helpful and pretty knowledgeable. I'm sure they could tell you if you need lube or not for the taxes/duty/shipping.

Figured I would chime in here too. I have had my Guard Dogs on for about 6 months / 10k miles. 265/75-16 - Load D. Mine have been great. I rotate mine every oil change (about every 4k miles). That rotation interval seems to be just about right to keep the tread evenly worn. As any other aggressive tread, the front tires tend to get scalloped edges a little scalloped about the time they need rotating. (yes, I have a good alignment, that is not the issue) They all balanced easily. They ride great, and have good traction on and off road, dry or wet conditions. I will be buying another set after these wear out.

BTW, I have a set of the Sentinels on my wife's Suburban too - same size/load as mine. They are a nice conservative AT tire. They are very quiet on the road. Great on road traction for them too, wet or dry. Have about 10k miles on them too and wearing great.

Ok, so a little late in posting my update...

The tires when new were at 19/32". Latest measurement in August had them at 15/32". So over 18 months, they've lost 1/8"...not bad.
