looking for code scanner for 2.5 crd sports diesel

looking for a code scanner reader for 2.5 crd sports,saw a few on ebay but say 2004 onwards and as my crd kj is 2002,i asked the ebay seller would it work with 2002 crd and they put question back to me ,in other words,they dont know,does anyone have a link to a code scanner for 2002 crd
and o yes
does OBDII compliant code scanners readers work with 2002 2.5 crd

From 2004 onwards Jeep changed the interface to a CAN Bus as apposed to the earlier PCI bus that our 2002 KJs use.
I would be wary of buying that one......hopefully someone here can be more specific on what scanners would work:freak3:

You should have the capability for the OBDII Scanner, just make sure it can handle both PCI & CAN, that way it will work on other newer cars and you can charge them a mug of Murphy's or Beamish for the scan. My scanner works in both my '06 and my Wife's 99 TDI.
All the '02 US KJs and most other Jeeps back into the mid 90's (can't remember the exact year) can use the OBDII scanner.
Where the OBDII plug is on the right hand drive version of the '02 KJ is the one thing you will need to determine. If they set it up for the Tech, it will be under the steering column, easy to find and get to.
