I think you'll have to ask the previous owner, must have meant something to them, but It's not a factory "M" :D

If you bought it used then the prior owner must have put it on there? Then there is no way to know what it stands for.

As said before, it's not a OEM letter... even the font and the color of the chrome is off from the factory lettering.

Dealership logo or emblem?

I've seen dealerships add their name or logo in chrome lettering (meant to look OEM) like that before - matter of fact, there's one particular CJD dealer here in SA that appears to do it on ALL the vehicles they sell, as many of them I've gotten behind at stoplights.

First 87 300D I bought, the small family-owned dealership I got it from had actually added their name in pinstriping on the rear trunk lid - seemed rather presumptuous of them to do that to a Mercedes, even if it was 18 years old.

Looks like the previous owner put that on. You can go to an automotive shop and buy letters and spell words out....
It has nothing to do with the Dealership,Model etc...... Just my .02

What's the name of the dealer you bought it from?

I always remove the dealership advertising when I buy a vehicle. I'd be more than happy to leave it on ... for a yearly fee ;-)

Here's one...

It doesn't mean anything.

As previously said, if you bought it used, the previous owner stuck that badge on there. It likely meant something to them, but to you, and the rest of us, means nothing.

Take it off. :)

It's not beveled properly to be factory. Looks like a stick on from AutoZone. Also would not be right on the edge if it was factory.
