just put a valve in the intake incase of sucking in SMALL bits of water

K&Ns =no good on the KJ
tried one for 25,000 miles
and swapped it out for Amsoil in the stock box with 4 inch hose from the grill to the box, better mileage / runs smoother
just say no to those hot air suckers

Amsoil filters are better but having it in the grill is like having a straw

sent from my EVO 3D

I have the black K&N filter. Makes the engine sound deeper and more throaty. Also has quiet whistle. It is very loud when first started and when the hood is up. I wouldnt worry about sucking in water unless you like to drive in lakes. I have driven in water up to the bumper and had no problems. Plus it made my gas milage go up 3mpgs.

Ron, I do not believe the y-pipe intake provides any benefit to a traditional intake (either the stock box or a single tube design). If you really like the looks of it I don't see the harm since iirc, the KJ doesn't have a MAF sensor in the intake.

you should try to box it off, otherwise you're pulling in hot air from the engine bay. which is actually hurting you

NO performance gains from the Y piping, will just suck in more hot air which is not what you want
The computer will allow only so much and the stock set up provides plenty
Only thing you get with the CAI intake is more hot air and noise

Run PVC pipe from your throttle body to under the drivers seat. That should give you the desired effect. Oh, dont forget to put a tooth brush in it for a filter.
Oh and I forgot, try not to fart too much or it will take away a few MPGs

X2

IMO, get the Y pipe, put some elbows on it , cut some ovals in the hood and mount the air filters so they stick up through the hood

or enclose the filters in resonator boxing and tube it up through the hood with 2 snorkel tophats.....

:whip:

if you want cold air, get cold air but you aren't going to find it under the hood

He found a mud hole the ATVs had been using to play in and had to see how fast he could go through for "photo" purposes
This was at the end of the day he finally checked it, and wash/replace nah he just drove it home that way
