I made up my mind and Im going to spend the money and get myself the audio control buttons for my steering wheel. Ive found a few wheels on ebay but I dont want to purchase yet until i know if i need to get a new clockspring. Is there anyway to find out if i have the upgraded one without pulling the wheel off first? i have an 04 columbia which to me seems like its a cross of a rene and sport.

You don't have to pull the wheel off to look, but you will need to pull the air bag cover. If you can see prongs in the entire thing, then you don't need one. If it look slike there are some missing, then you will need to replace the clockspring.

I wouldn't, that was the only new part that I got when I did the install, got it on clearance on ebay few years ago. I did the install in the parking lot outside where my wife worked at the time (Jeep's hers). Installation is specific and I wouldn't trust how a used one was removed. FSM is very handy for this (pm me if you need it).

well the one I was going to buy is gone now and the other one doesnt look like it has the wiring so ill have to wait for one to pop up again, but when you took the steering wheel off did you use the chrysler puller? if so then im kind of screwed unless the nearest dealership lets me use theirs but then id have to install it all in their parking lot:disgust:
