I would go with the Alpine based solely on the fact that I'm a big fan of the brand. I've had a bunch of their stuff over the years and have always been impressed with quality.

There's no difference between the two so just go with what's cheaper. If you want an engineered solution for the serious enthusiast, check out the Stealthbox by JL Audio available from Crutchfield or your local purveyor of fine audio.

Depends on what you want to achieve, although it seems like you really want a dual setup.
I actually wanted to maintain my cargo area, so I went with a single speaker setup. I also did not want the hassle of putting it together, so I went with a ported enclosure.

This is what I got: http://www.crutchfield.com/s_575P2L110/Rockford-Fosgate-P2L-110.html?ssi=0&tp=27905

And it is just perfect if you want to add a good amount of bass while retaining most of your cargo space. It bangs really hard if you have a good head unit, and a proper amp, but don't expect to rattle the windows of cars or houses nearby.

Good luck.

I went with a single 12" jlwx with a cheap enclosure from walmart. I wanted to keep some cargo space and crutchfield also has a quick disconnect so if I need extra cargo I can have my sub out in a matter of 10 seconds.

I agree with JLRockies - I doubt you'd notice a difference. They're both good quality.
Having said that, I'm Kitty - I'd go with the Alpine, but purely on brand preference - I'd bet money that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference if blind folded.

Have a look at the Fli Trap twin 10" enclosure - more compact. I used to have one and it sounded awesome. Fli is made by Vibe who are a very respected brand.

the alpines are built better
I've been doing car audio for 10 years, played around with both a little bit. I like how the alpines sound better as well

Well, since you've "been doing car audio" for 10 yrs, I yield to your great insight and experience.

I like my setup - single Kappa Perfect 10" in a home-built .6 cu ft sealed box. I have it easily removeable, so I can have the full cargo area available in seconds. Speaker is damn near 13-14 years old, still doing great!

Being a 10 in a sealed box, I think it hits nice and clean. This one won't rattle windows either, but it sounds great to me with rock and rap as well as takes up little space.

Like Atrus, I have a 10" in the cargo area. It sounds nice and can really bump but isn't oppressive. I've driven with my grandmother (who complains...a lot) and she didn't say a thing about it being over-the-top. I have Rockford Fosgate speakers in all 4 doors too. I keep my "Low" EQ setting on 2 and put the sub at about 6 out of 10 and it sounds nice.

I rock 2 10" rockford fosgates in a single band pass box. I have a 1000w amp bolted to the side of the box. I can remove everything with 3 screws...just have to remember to lock my doors! Sound can't be beat!

Anyways, I would go for Rockford fosgates, Cerwin vega, or Soundstream. All three are famous for pounding low low tone.

The three brands mentioned come from the same Chinese factory. Outside of cosmetics, it's the same woofer.
