That's right, cheese boards.:badger_1:

Tim, I'm afraid that you are going to be dissapointed in all the effort that you put into that skid plate. It's going to get scratched and dirty.:icon_twisted:

Ya Ian I agree....
It is all in the effort of the upcoming photo installed & will make a good before & after, to remind those without skids, why they are needed.
Going to welding shop after the lift, to do one more plate up front, from bottom of push bar, to suspension skid as well...

Lol cheese plates. (Reminds me of a thread here about a Rover getting tow hooks in case they get stuck at a wine tasting that runs out of brie.)

Just have factory skids. Does the skid row front engine skid go further upward / front, can't really tell by their photos... and holy * they're expensive now that I look. Probably worth it but only if I had to do it all over again. (Knock wood, no major skid damage pls)

Am a bit worried up front going ARB, the front frame and sway look like they'll be in the wind and the washer bottle gets a little cover but the bottom or back looks like it might be exposed? We'll see I guess.

Chip, goes by "Boiler" here, makes a nifty filler to go between the rad support and the front suspension/engine skid. I've got one, as do many members here and it fits/works fantastic. Keeps the front of the engine skid from acting like a freaking shovel.

I love mine. :D

Or, if you're so inclined, you can make one of those yourself. People have done it both ways.

It was a raining week, and was totally bored! You could say I added some skid marks !!
Ok well pinstriping to sorta match the blue from the Bilstien shocks boot color.
Had everything lying around here so did not have to buy the paint or clear coat, cost nothing to add the little detail that huntbuggy placed in my head.
Dealer is installing tomorrow as they will also inspect their recent ****** pan seal and will remove the transfer case skid, to get them to check for weap on transfer case seal.
Hopefully a photo of it installed tomorrow as am asking while on lift, to grab photos.

Lol!

Sweet! Talk about detailing a pig :artist1:! Now I'm going to have to get something underneath to match ROFL.

Am staring at the Bilstein shock body on my desk right now and trying to figure out a yellow color match on the duplicolor site.

Looks kind of like a farm implement yellow or mustard compared to most of the yellows out there... am going to look like an idiot but might have to put a bilstein in the appropriate baby seat of my Canadian Tire shopping cart and go to the paint aisle...

What was that blue you used? Was it a run of the mill spraycan?

(Gawd, not sure about the blue of these boots - sort of baby blue meets old ford blue... we shall see. Blue clevis? Blue rear stabilizer bar? Blue rear arms? The possibilities are endless ! :flash: )

Okay before this goes too off topic I ordered my xfer case skid (backorder you were right) and I think it should be yellow... or blue... :happy175:

Spending way too much time and brain cells for something that will get bent, beat, dinged, scratched, and overall tore up if used.
Paint them black and be done :happy175:

The blue on the skid plate is not painted on it is real pin striping then clear-coated in place.

Today's install did not go as planned. There was no place for the skid's tabs to go into, so they had to be cut off.
There was one missing nuthurtz hole as well, so it had to be drilled and filled with a new insert.

I wonder if you have to drop the skid plate down, to drain the engine oil out now?

The tabs do not go into anything, :pp: they just go up against the front cross member, and you cut them off :happy175:

Tom, the Job was done at Chrysler dealer, by most senior mechanic, but probably unfamiliar with this particular skid plate (not a lot of customers install one?) I was going with his recommendations. I suppose he may not have realized that you probably had to loosen the Xfer case skid and slide it in-between then install nutzerts? I just went along for the ride.
I suppose the benefit now is that the ****** skid can be dropped directly down without the tabs, so easier to remove. It is now installed though which is good.

There is the large hole around where the tabs were. How well does the engine oil drain down through this hole?
Is it now a mess to leave the ****** skid in place, to drain the engine oil now?

dis.

Okay! Sold me. Have to go pick up isos at the dealers anyways next couple weeks... but I had the skid part # wrong.

82209455 lists transfer case skid for 05-07 and instructions have the nutzerts.

Looks like the one for 08-09 has no nutzerts - I guess they drilled and tapped the later models to avoid the "spinning to nowhere" nutzert issues ? ... will take a look under the jeep and see what the left frame rail looks like to get everything in.

(Man this winter KJ project is starting to add up $ hehe) Hopefully it'll all be worth it!

Ok the dealer just called me back, after i ordered the part, and tells me the 02 skids have been discontinued? I am wondering if the 05 will fit my jeep now. I really didn't want to blow 265 on a skid row plate :(

they've been discontinued for a couple years now.

You should ask him to check if other dealers have any in stock. I know there where some in Augusta, Maine a couple years ago....

Mitch, Princess Auto has the farm yellow, check it out next time you're in there.

Mopar Transmission Skis on 2004 KJ

Howdy,

Has anyone installed a 2005+ OEM Mopar transmission skid plate (82210003)for a GAsser to a 2002 - 2004 KJ Gasser. I've read some discussion regarding this but some said it can be done easily by drilling a hole or two, and others have said that the transmission skid for a 2005+ is too short for a 2002 - 2004 KJ. Can this work? Has anyone had the experience our could/would share picts or a detailed how-to?

My transmission is a 5-speed manual with Select-trac transfer case, if that makes any difference!!

Please help!!!

Rob K.
