Hi All, I am replacing my rear shocks in my 2006 Lib Sport tomorrow morning. As far as I can tell I just need to undue a bolt at the top and bottom of the old shock. pull it out and put in the new one. Is that all there is too it? Thanks.

yes for most manly dirty jobs some form of manly drink is required :p

But yes that's all you have to do. If your KJ is high enough
you may not even need a jack (to reach the top bolt, the
tire might be in the way). Since shocks do not affect ride
height what so ever when you remove them the KJ wont
move at all.

What shocks are you putting on? I just installed a set of 2001
Durango Shocks on my KJ when I put my lift in. They were
$38 each at Canadian Tire.

That's funny! It IS easier with the rear tires/wheels removed.

Okay, before anybody else pipes in here: jacking it up to do all of this would be advised.

Nope I just replaced mine because I lifted the KJ and stock shock weren't long enough.

Also is easier quicker and 10 nut removal less to just leave the tires on. I did it in the dirt
with no jack and just simple hand tools in about 5-10 minutes for both sides. To each their
own I guess.

Also why is jacking up advised? I'm not an overly small fella and I was able to fit under
the rear of the KJ to removed the lower bolts just fine. I would prefer to work under a
vehicle that has NO chance of falling or shifting on me. If you were to jack up the rear
to replace rear shocks you are just adding another risk to the job and possible injury.

Job is done.

Thanks to everyone who lent some advise. Started to remove the left hand side first, but felt I needed more room on the top bolt between it and the inside tire wall. Since the floor jack and stands were close by I took both wheels off. 15mm socket for the top and 19mm for the bottom bolts. A little PB Blaster all bolts and nuts came off easily. Replaced with Gabrial Ultra. Old shock never made any noise just too much motion after bumps in the road told me they needed to go. Thanks.
